can somebody give me a starting point in going bout gating snares and hi-hats in reason.and ill goof around from there myself..

you mean something like a "trancegate" in vanguard?
if so, you can use a matrix sequencer to triger the level of your sample in vanguard or any other

just do this:

set up the sampler (could be ReDrum or NN:XT, NN19 whatever you use), then create a matrix...connect the wire from the curve out on matrix to the level control on your sampler
then set up matrix so that it gates it as you need :)

no..that book everbody is talking bout the trance experience..

well i was just on browsen the his website..and there was a tread relating to gating snares and hi-hats.

was hoping somebody give me a little run down on getting started..hope that was bit more clearer to you

ahhh..you mean something like compressor gate...I'm not sure if it can be done in Reason though...

I'm not sure how it works, but...my guess would be that it is that it cuts sound which is lower than x db...
So you could prolly do it with a compresor...but I'm not sure about the settings someone could propably put more light on this...

anyway if you wanna take off a tail of a clap for example you can just use the length knob in ReDrum

yeah no bout that..what bout the side chain effect.would that help is some way?
BOOsTER
depends on what you sidechain it with...it could do the job...maybe...

You can use Redrum as a gate effect as well, tho what Booster said will accomplish the same thing anyway.

u hook it up to the volume input on subtractor for example, and change the switch to gate mode and youve got a realy effective pattern based gate effect, works a treat!
