To repeat myself, the Q was:
How old are you and how long have you been active in the club/rave scene?
I just started thinking about this since some people mentioned in their posts that they were under 18, some a lot over.

I'm 25. I started clubbing '95 when the first good clubs started around here. Before that, everything was mainly underground and parties were illegal. Now raves and club events are advertised on the radio and internet of course so the crowds get bigger all the time. I don't mind as long as the vomitting/aggressive idiots stay the hell away.

Uhm... just turned 22 yesterday.. I was first exposed to eletronica/techno at 11 with those cheesy 4 channel mod files from BBS'es.. then discovered the underground rave scene at 16 years old... got all caught up with it, went every weekend, got in trouble at school, did too many drugs...yadiyaya :P Went to an Underworld concert around 1996.. got excited and bought a bunch of equipments (roland juno, akai sampler, and a bunch of other synths/hardwares.. even learned to program CuBase). Now, I am just going through the mid-life crisises... go to school (double majors in sound engineering and neurosciences), go to work part time and call it day...still party regularly, albeit not as often but just as hard. yeah!

Like I always tell my friends, make some brain cells during the weekdays, kill some during the weekend. It's all good :P

GOOD QUESTION MINDBENDER, I OFTEN WONDER THE SAME QUESTION! AS I STATED IN YOUR OTHER POST, I AM 23 YRS OF AGE. I AM NOT ACTIVE IN THE RAVE SCENE B/C AS FAR AS I KNOW THERE IS NO SCENE IN MEMPHIS. THEN AGAIN I HAVE ONLY BEEN INTO TRANCE MUSIC FOR A YEAR NOW SO MAYBE I AM JUST UNINFORMED I DID GO TO A AFTERHOURS PARTY AT THE PALACE IN LOS ANGELES THIS YEAR, I DONT KNOW IF THAT IS CONSIDERED A RAVE? IT WAS THE SH**!

I have a feeling I'm going to feel really old by the time this thread is done. I'm 26, graduated from college and a working stiff.

Went to my first rave Freshman year in college ('93) but the rave seen in Grand Rapids was less than exciting. Still hit the clubs occasinally, but its a long drive to listen to ghetto-rific house in Detroit.

24. First introduction to the scene in 1992/3 through "The Magic Friend" by 2Unlimited. First rave in 1994. Since then been lovin' every minute of it....

Geez, I feel so young now!
I'm 17... I went to my first rave in feb. 2000.... I can't really say I was into the scene then, but I've liked the music (started off with chem. brothers and prodigy then moved into trance) since ummm.... a couple years ago. I still don't get much of a chance to go to any because either they are 18+, in a really crappy venue or they're out of town so I can't get to them :/

But we might have some legislation passed here in winnipeg soon that will let raves go until any time in the city (right now they must be done by 2) and that will open up alot more venues.

I can't wait! :P

I've been waiting for this thread to appear. Although Ohm and I might end up being the oldest at 26, I don't feel nearly as old (yet) as I thought I would. First got into electronica in the late 80's via BBS's. Went to quite a few raves in the early 90s in the Detroit area. I was 18 then and felt young compared to most of the people who went. Started listening to more of the industrial side for a few years, got back into electronica a few years ago, and suddenly felt old. Seems I missed my window around here. Didn't really start listening to trance exclusively until the last couple of years. I spend alot of Fridays with Ohm in Detroit at a club that has a resident trance DJ. Not much of a scene, but the music is good, and they have a dance floor. Finally went to Detroit's mecca club Motor a few weeks ago and heard Dave Ralph spin. Great club, but they tend to play house, drum and base, and breakbeat much more than trance. Don't go to many parties as around here they are filled mainly with 15 year old E kids who could care less about the music.

To put it another way, I have the next 50 years to act old, I see no point starting today.

I'm 19.. letsee I grew up with house and techno because of my friend's older brother's influence.. I listened to techno, house, TRANCE!! I dunno I learned quite a bit but when you're like 12 you don't care.. I knew about progressive house and all the rest.. When I was 13 I sat next to some brittish guy on an airplane and he taught me about jungle!!! The coolest guy alive, cuz jungle has been the coolest music for a long time..unfortunately it was hard to find jungle music to listen to at that time...

Ok so this is a long story now, when I was in highschool I ditched techno and house for alternative music!! ewww.. mainly because the guy I liked loved alternative and hated dance music.. later on in high school like 2 and a half years ago I was in charge of making the logo for a fashion show, I was getting ideas for the logo from rave flyers and was surprised to read about people I heard about when I was younger, as I looked at more flyers I got more and more interested in trance music, because I never listened to it that much.. so I started listening to trance and months later I went to my first rave (that was 2 years ago).. and just recently went to clubs to hear trance cuz my friends like r n b and hip hop so we usually go to those clubs..

I was 22 in September and I've been active since 94. Trance was just coming out of the underground into its deserved glory.

I'm currently studying Music and Sound Recording at Surrey University (www.surrey.ac.uk), my goal being to contribute something original to the Music scene.
