Two Montrealers have been charged after U.S. border agents in northern New York seized 45,300 tablets of ecstasy over the weekend.
More than 12 kilograms of the illicit party drug were found Saturday at the Champlain checkpoint inside vacuum-sealed bags that were stuffed among loose peanuts inside boxes, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported yesterday.
The hallucinogenic tablets were marked with exclamation points. The tablets have an estimated street value of $1.7 million U.S., Customs spokesperson Kevin Corsaro said.
Jean Philistin, 55, and Ferlandson Desiriveaux, 35, were charged with drug importation and possession with conspiracy to distribute, officials said. |
