Black people from the Bronx sure as hell dont attend Garth Brooks concerts...

ok friendly debate. you first stated that none of us on this board had no idea what we were talking about to begin with when y-1000 made their announcement about this new show of theirs. you said give it a chance, we arent radio managers, maybe they know what they are doing. then after some posts you finally gave in and said you were wrong to begin with. yes i know corporations spend lots of money researching, "its a proven fact that latinos like freestyle" and the same goes for a majority of white people and black people who grew up in miami. i never denied latinos dont like freestyle, and yes im latino and i like freestyle too, but in your argument you made it sound like party 93.1 only played freestyle to attract latino listeners. from what i remember when they first started out they barely played any freestyle to begin with and when they did it was about the same 20 songs over and over.
now about my point of "you cant associate heritage or race with music" was mainly to latino liking only freestyle as how you put it. hmm... south america? what do they listen to? do you think its english freestyle or spanish rock?
i just dont agree with the association that the majority of said culture is to listen to this type of music. i think it very much depends where you live and what you grow up listening to. |

thats EXACTLY who they were going after. They ED all of us. Why else would you hear the same lil suzie song 8 times/day for 3 years straight? - they wernt going after the hip hoppers.... and they sure as hell werent going after the TA's and Cooljunkies. They were trying to pick at Power 96 listeners (remember the "Power played 24 commercials last hour, while Party played six promos?" - The majority of Power listeners are latino... Power is a heritage station in Miami that has been around for ages that used to play..... FREESTYLE.
Like I said above... this is the clubbing capital os America.. and it's rediculous that we don't have an EDM radio station here.... One could easily work and make a lot of money.. but it has to be ran correctly... making everybody happy.

good debate indeed. if you would have stated that you were mainly focusing the miami area then i would have agreed from start. now can you answer what i posted before

def. Miami... another city cannot handle an all dance format.. Ive lived in Vegas.. LA.. San Fran.. Atlanta.. Miami.. Phoenix.. Tampa.. Orlando... and the only market with a radio station that has it right is Tampa with their live MIXSHOWS on Sat night from Amp Nightclub (however, they are a pop station like Y100). As much as I hate that club and dont care for breaks.. 93.3 FLZ breaks the rules... and their ratings show it...... Sat nights.. that station ison point because they play what Tampa wants to hear... sure it's mainly breaks.. but that station is reaching out to its audience.
If a radio station in Miami could reach out to the audience.. then it could be successful. Miami audience is a lot more advanced then the rest of the country... everybody here goes out clubbing and understands the music. We need Trance, House, Freestyle, and a little Breaks on the radio. If it happened.. most would be cheesy... but, if they ran it right.. it would make everybody happy.
93-1 Party started off on the right track, and after 4-5 months they failed.... now the PD of that station is PD for Hot 105 (which is an URBAN ADULT CONTEMPORARY station)... the same guy that ran Party 93-1 and Orlando's 95.3 Party.. which was one of the best FM radio stations I have ever heard... not sure what happened to him with Party 93.1 Miami.
