Germany Holiday Pics Thread - ****ing brilliant

So after coming back from Germany a few days ago, Ive finally become accostomed to the cold and the damp of Ireland again. This trip has again opened my eyes to the massive hole that Ireland has turned into.
We went back to the same place we went to back in September, to see the same sights in the snow. There was no plans for skiing however - my parents are thinking of moving over there permanently, and I'll tag along. It cant be too bad - at the moment I'm sitting alone at home unemployed playing Unreal Tourament all day, if I move over there the worst that can happen is that I'll be sitting alone at home unemployed playing Unreal Tourament all day, but with a FASTER INTERNET CONNECTION.
So there was a lot of house hunting done while we were over there. But I did get a chance to visit some nice places. So I'm just going to post things without a mile of text, noone will read it anyway.
Heres a snowplough that was near the appartment we were staying ->

Town of Zwiesel, the river was frozen.
It was -12 in Oesterhoven - only took 1 pic as I didnt want my camera to freeze up ->

Before I went, I copied a few pics (that I took in September) to my flash card and had a lash at repeating them, to show the difference between summer and winter.

And I dont know how common 'Sun Halos' are, but heres one. They form from the same principle as a rainbow, and are caused by correctly sized dust particles in the sky.
Now some people will say "Why the do you want to move to the cold?". Well here in Ireland the seasons are boring. Its cloudy 95% of the time, and we only get about 3 weeks of sunshine a year. In Germany, its sunny most of the time. Cold, but sunny.
But its a different type of cold. Here in Ireland, if the temperature gets anywhere near freezing, its bloody awful. Its very humid here (~85% now) and that makes low temperatures feel REALLY cold.
In Germany, it was -18 outside and I slept with my window wide open all night. Wasnt cold at all. It wasnt humid, and the cold just seemed different to the cold at home. Turned off all the central heating in the appartment.
Funny thing is Im colder here at home when its 5 degrees, than in Germany where it never went above freezing.
Weird I know, but thats how it is :D |

| Youve a Canon camera dont you? Saw it in your thread. There should be a setting for 'Vivid Colours' under one of the menus on the camera. I used that for a few of them, but if the sun is too bright it makes the whole thing suck :D |

yeah... i'm no digital photography expert, but i know there's a lot of different settings on my camera. the biggest importance to me is that the pictures came out clear and not blurry... which is why i used the Action setting.
plus i can always photoch0p the colors to be vivid. :cool:
btw what camera do you use? |

Canon Powershot G6... tis 7.1mp :) The Canon ones have loads of manual settings... if youre interested you should really get a book on it. The paper manuals that come with them are rubbish.
