When I lived in South Jersey near Philly we would always use the word "jawn." It can basically be used in place for any noun, similar to the word "joint" in NY.

SSSup, Philly slang (what I can remember from my harsh days in da hood)
1. Uze = You are or you plural
ex. What would uze two like? or How uze doin'? (whow are (plural) you?)
2. Ax or Axe = ask. ex. "Lemme ax ya something" = "Let me ask you something"
3. Im = him
4. Hol up = Hold up or Hold on
5. Amana = I am going to. Ex. "Hang on, amana ax im sumthing" = "Hang on, I am going to ask him something"
6. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit = Sh!t
7. Mugafuga = Mother f-er
8. Theiz = They is or They are
9. Dem = them
ex. "Hol up Tomika, dem mugafugas tink theiz some smart mugafugas, sheeeeeeeit." |

haha i know, i hate it too... i just couldn't think of any other Wisco slang.
get this though... when i was visiting Wisconsin maybe 5 or 6 years ago, i was in Madison with my bf and 2 of my cousins from California - both VERY slow semi-airheaded girls. we were headed to a bar so my bf says "i have to hit up a Tyme machine first" and my one cousin says "you guys have TIME MACHINES in Wisconsin? do those really work?!"
up to that point i think i had never laughed so hard in my life. :stongue: |
