ive been doing research for my upcoming trip which includes singapore.

Some shocking things about that city compared to our own.

Singapore is known for having some obscenely strict laws. Everyone in the world knows this. So lets compare a few laws.

Smoking is prohibited:

In singapore everywhere but nightclubs and casinos

In Toronto EVERYWHERE

Drinking must finish at:

no set time in singapore

2 am in Toronto

Radio/television

Singapore does not regulate which stations can be viewed but can censor pornographic images when deemed necissary

Canada's government decides which foreign channels can be watched as well as what formats may exist in canadian markets. Everything you watch or hear has to be approved. The government also censors pornography.

Chewing gum:

Singapore - Not permitted for sale in convenience stores but may be purchased at the pharmacy or imported for personal use. Contrary to myth, Chewing is not against the law

Ontario - Can no longer be purchased from school cafeterias or machines

Instead of making your thread title "Canadian laws are stricter than singapore", it should be "Laws that are stricter in Canada than Singapore". Your thread title is misleading. It makes it seem that all laws in Canada are stricter than in Singapore, which is obviously not the case.

while we're being random - in California; a city ordinance states that a $500 fine will be given to anyone who detonates a nuclear device within city limits.:thepirate

I agree with all of these laws.
- I hate smoking in public (I would never go into a club if there were smokers lighting up inside. Never.)
- I don't see a problem with last call.
- Honestly, I think public broadcasting should be regulated (I mean... TV is already turning into a cesspool of ty programming; it would be much worse if those laws weren't there).
- And with respect to chewing gum being banned in schools... it makes sense to me.

please !!!!!!!

i read in the newspaper today, man who raped 6 or 7 years old girl and beat her up and choked her, told her he killed cecilia and 14 more girls while raping her and beating her up, today that man got 4 years in prison. he got 10 but cause of "double time", and "fairness" that man will be out of prison when she is 14.

at the same time, 6'7 and 350 lbs man who said "i cant help it, im addicted to smell of young boys", who raped one or two young boys, who was in jail then released, THEN caught stalking some 11 years old boys, sent to jail again, and now he's getting released again.

not to mention man who raped 12 years old girl for 3 ing years (since she was 9), then tried to rape 18 MONTHS old baby (eighteen MONTHS, 18 ing months) and when baby's father confronted him about that he slashed his throat, and he got not even 6 years......
