This is the song that I submitted to the psy producers mix project. I feel that it's a bit proggy and subdued for the style that most people consider psy, but it's got plenty of trippy elements for the doubters. My pride and joy in this track is that ascending pattern. It's one of two audio illusions that I've being dying to use for several months now, the other being the tritone.
This illusion is quite nifty, though. The asute listener will note that the pattern seems to constantly ascend without returning to a lower note. For this reason, I almost called this song Escher, in honor of the famous illusionist, but I decided against it for some reason. I should change the name back to Escher, come to think about it.
How do I do it? That's for me to know, and the curious to find out. If you know, don't spoil it for everyone else. :P

i like your chilled tempo, but the bass is not that psyish and the bassline is the trademark for psy i think, but the bassline you chose is good to :), your melody are kind of repetetive wich doesnt really bother me but.. you know.. to monotounus :). around 5 minutes there when that dark bas starts is cool, thats my kind of music, dark! :D your track is kinda... light you know :)
the track is kinda to slow for me :) but nice work !
great work, review me tune? :D |

Wow, really cool track, nice one. :)
The intro is great, really good use of panning. From there it builds really nicely, the melody and bass are where my attention is really captivated, an overall awesome blend of sounds. The it goes in full dark prog mode, the kind of stuff I was into 2004/early 2005. Great to hear something like that again with the bpm up a tad.
Love the epic feel to this one as well, really has a brilliant story to it. Not repetitive in the slightest for me and the production has no obvious flaws to me.
A great listen, surprised this has only had 1 review before mine :conf:
Well done mate. :) |

Nice intro. ...the piddy-pattering congas are great...
2:30 I do enjoy the ascending pattern. It is basic, but really effective & hypnotic.
3:20 not a big fan of the burps lol :stongue: ...maybe pan them around a bit & add another filter (flanger or something?). Love the distorted mid synth humming continuously along with the bass... :p
5:20 the acid fits well.
5:30 the pads could be bought forward a little.
6:00 I love this new phasing synth layer. ...Great layering right here!! It sounds similar to a layer I really enjoy in a Union Jack tune called 'Red Herring' or off a Quietman tune from platipus records.
7:00 excellent progression
comes together really well at the end.
This tune is really well done jex. The elements are subtle. The partterns are repetitive & simple, but you have selected a great collection of sounds & the rhythms are very catchy & interesting. I was banging my head right the way through it. Awesome work dude. Very professional.
