MIDI files hosted on my website. Allowed?

I'm designing myself a website and have been addding a few MIDI files I've created myself stating they're for unofficial remix purposes and the original artists own the copyright.
I was just wondering if that was enough or if I'll still have lawyers chasing me. |

| Im no expert on this, but my gut instinct tells me youd need permission from the labels. |

| i don't see a problem with it...in fact check out the production forum...guys in there have been making and sharing midi files for years now. there is a huge sticky thread about it... |
