seneca, justwantedto let you know what i thought of ur mix;)
1st track, very minimal... i must say that i was looking for more variation, but the build up in your set is doing that job excellent! but... that 1st transistion, ouch...
it seems that all the MWTA's are squeezing out a lot of "electro" lately... not sure what to thk of it? i think for me, i need deeper sounds...more explosion ;) but that's just me...
nice job on this one! cheers mate |

| Me and Andy were talking about that recently. Everyone's on this minimal kick right now and its disturbing. Somebody said to me the other day - "You have to listen to what's not there.." So I said - "Is that like tasting what's not there when you go to eat at a restaraunt?" |

haha, good analogy! i get bored so quick of all the minimal stuff out there right now... it all starts to sound the same to me after a while. i like my music chunky and funky. |

thanks... I appreciate your input!
I know what you are saying where it's a bit minimal in the beginning... that's how I wanted it....
IMO, to start with an extremely energetic track and make the whole mix banging is too easy. I've been taking chances lately with more minimal tracks in the beginning of my mixes and then bringing the energy up from there... building and creating a unique vibe as I mix in tracks with more elements. It's sort of how I open the room @ Vision or anywhere else. I hate 80 min mixes but I do them to please the people who want to put something on a CD and jam in their car, etc. Did you listen to my Best of 2005 mix? That's how I would love to do every mix I put up but simply cannot spare the time and effort (and bandwidth!!!) every month.
I have to say, ever since I started opening for bigger DJs coming through that I have learned a lot. If you compare my opening set from Armin in Aug 2003 to whatever I play this Friday @ sound-bar... it'll obviously sound way different but it will be defined. My tastes are always changing but I try to be original and not be afraid to try something new. It's how I want to be looked at as an artist. I can't stand it when you can practically predict what someone is going to do or play...
The first transition starts around 5:00... the second transition which I think you are referring to totally sucks around 12:00. But it's a live mix and I decided that I did a halfway decent job saving it and decided to leave it so that you know I make mistakes too! That track is pretty tough to mix...(The Knife . You Take My Breath Away - Mylo Mix)
ps -
04 Tiga . Good As Gold - Zdar Dub
into
05 Chelonis R. Jones . Deer In The Headlights - DJ Radioslave Remix
totally pwning me!!!
