This set in particular brings back memories from my first party at System with the man himself. I still remember a lot of the tracks from that night and how they made me feel out on the dancefloor. Let me tell you, it was a total annihilation of the senses. Still 18, coming from a small town, never before had I been out to a nightclub, still inexperienced with the bar scene as well, and there I was in the middle of a Toronto underground dance club among people who all looked like they could be my parents... talk about being thrown right into it all.
About 7 minutes into the mix you'll run into Kade - If You Want Me, lyrics that stuck for days after. I remember standing right in front of the booth while Dean Coleman - Kontact was playing, and getting pushed around by the intense basslines that accompany the song. Same goes for Dibaba - Hold You (Agoria Remix) (16min part2), which if you've heard it has a MASSIVE bassline as well. So many classics in this mix, I'm not even gonna list them. My jaw musta dropped like a thousand times that night.
As for Hernan, he has been pretty consistant over the years. I wish I could experience it all over again, cause music these days has lost a lot of the emotion it had in the previous years. Luckly, Hernan still keeps it real. For more Hernan goodness check out Perfecto Presents Hernan Cattaneo South America (a must have album!), as well as his weekly radio show on Metro 95.1 (see mixingbowl for those).
In closing, if you don't like this set please stay away from dance music.

It's got some deep male voice in the background but I can't tell what he's saying. Also got nice synthy breakdown in the middle. |
