March 06 Schedule at One14 in Philly. (pg. 2)

Part of the reason why I left Boston was because I wanted to do my own thing and call my own shots. Over the years I worked for many owners that wanted to make lots of money quick but were never ready to do what is necessary long term to be successful; at least in my opinion.
When I came to Philly and hired a staff and announced that the music format what going to be "dance" for lack of a better word, there was utter silence. I was told by my staff that unless I played hip hop no one would come. I was really nervous as Philly wasn't where I had dug my roots or had a reputation, but I gotta tell you that there is a hardly a weekend that someone doesn't walk up to me and thanks me for what I'm doing. Although not every event is suucessful money wise, that fact that we always have a good vibe and people truly appreciate what we're trying to create, it's well worth it for me. Times will get better, and I rather be doing this under these circumstances than playing hip hop like the rest of the city.
Anyone can be doing this not only in Boston, but in other cities as well; the problem is that everyone wants to play it safe and do the same old . I've reached out to other club owners and promoters in Boston to no avail, so I'm doing myself. it.
As far as Yves; be careful what you widh for, you might just get it...........;)
As far as the size of One14; it's not big at all. Three floors; basement, first floor and top floor. Top floor is where the guest dj's play. It's a double edged sword. Sometimes I wish I had more room and others you can't fill it. It is what it is. It's small, intimate room where the dj's and the crowd can be one. That's the best I can say. Hop this clears up some questions and sorry for the long post.

I think alot of people are wondering how long these superstar producers coming to One14 will last. This is like a dream come true to the easterners.

I also just want to say that since moving to philly over a year ago, Manny and the staff of one14 have shown so much respect to me and the music...it really is good to see people still prioritize the music first before all else.

One14 has a great vibe, very different from that of a crobar or spirit. I hope some of you start making some trips down.

Anyone of u who come down on a Saturday, ill make sure you are treated right, as well as drinking plentifly

Cheers ;)

In this case, size doesn't matter. 114 is a great little venue with a very intimate atmosphere. One which fits this kind of music perfectly, in my opinion. Like Manny already said, it lets you feel one with the rest of the crowd AND the dj. It's not every day you get a chance to stand RIGHT next to the headlining dj and talk to him during his set. Thanks again Manny for bringing this town what it has longed for so long. And I have to apologise for not being able to make it out to 114 as much as I would have liked but damnit Perry O'Neil is in town next week so I have no choice! See ya'll then. :D

Manny,

I was there for NYE and Jon O Bir. Love the club and vibe. Cant wait for Steve Porter, since I am a huge house fan. I was just wondering if you could have the guest dj's come on earlier since they have to get off at 2am. I am used to the 4hr+ NYC sets, and I know you have to close at 2, so is there any way the dj's could start at like 10pm or something? Just a thought. Again, thanx for everything, and I will continue to show support.

114 is a nice chill spot, don't expect a big club cause it isn't, more of a loungy type place, I def liked it when i was there.

The problem with getting dj's to play longer sets, it's not that they won't, unfortunately people in Philly don't really get to the clubs til like midnight or after even though we close at 2am. Most headliners hate playing for an empty room. Believe me, I wish I could get people in the room earlier; it would make things a lot easier for me as an owner.
I've done the whole open bar thing for the early part of the night and as soon as it's over, people march right out the door on to the next spot where they can drink for free.
So now it's all about the dj and the entertainment and I hope to slowly build solid support that will come on a regular basis and hopefully a little earlier as well.

hmm wait a minute, does it say March 2nd for Thrillseekers? Thats a Thursday :wtf: do they mean...Friday, March 3rd?

This is probably the best dj line up i have ever seen for a club/lounge. The talent is just amazing...thanks for bringing such awesome dj's to philly manny and for not playing hip-hop!

Thrillseekers will be playing on a Thursday. The problem with having a small venue like One14 is that sometimes I can only get certain talent on off nights rather that the weekends. Hope some of you will still make an attempt to come down.
