This is old news, but I only found out about it today as I've been wondering why the Kiss listen again player has rap e on his slot.
Taken from djjohnaskew.com:

Tuesday 17th January 2006
After 2 and a half highly entertaining, and thoroughly enjoyable, years presenting the Techno/Trance show on Kiss 100 I was most sad, although not entirely surprised, to be informed last night that, along with several of the other specialist shows on the station, mine would be stopping next week.
With the new Programme Controller at the station making it perfectly clear from his arrival that his intentions were to turn the small part of Kiss’s weekly schedule that wasn’t already dominated by Urban Music into even more “Pimp my Ride” orientated content, it was obvious that there was little hope for a trance & techno show.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind a bit of Hip Hop from time to time, but it seems a shame that Kiss are not able to spare a single hour from their weekly schedule to host and support one of the main genres of music that gave the station its initial popularity and internationally acclaimed reputation.
it. Onwards and Upwards.
So, along with several of my personal favourite Kiss shows, The Rev Milo Speedwagon and The Firin’ Squad among them, we now depart from what is soon to become Pimp my Ride FM - 24/7.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all you wonderful people who tuned in each week, the producers and labels who’s music made the show what it was and the long list of hugely talented guests who all contributed their sounds and styles. I would also like to thank all those Kiss employees who were strong supporters of the dance music scene and the specialist shows in general – especially those who battled against these latest moves. Last but by no means least I would like to thank my wonderful producer and dear, dear friend Wendy Marr who every Monday allowed me the freedom to behave like a ten year old on air and constantly supported the sounds that the show was pushing at programming meetings within the company.
I will miss you horrendously.
I am now working on plans to start a weekly Podcast show in conjunction with www.theradiodepartment.com – who also look after
Armin van Buuren’s “ASOT”
Carl Cox’s “Global”
& John Digweed’s “Transitions”
I expect the show to be live within the next 4 to 6 weeks.
Keep an eye on this site for updates etc.
Love you all.
Peace
JA

This is sad news that Kiss is veering away from its roots. I enjoyed listening to both Digweed's Transitions and Askew's show on the listen again player regularly at work. In fact they were the only decent EDM shows to grace the english airwaves. |

It's really pissing me off how people smear the rap scene. OK, I think we can all agree that the that they play on like... MTV and stuff like that, it really sucks, I know. But I'm telling you, there's so much rap out there that OWNS hard! It's not like it's guaranteed you'd like it if you heard it but please don't defame rap all the time.
I don't wanna start a discussion here so don't bother writing a whole lotta stuff, just... either you keep on doing what you do, or you'll be so kind and not shout it out loud on a public site. |

what the are you talking about. Rap is the most unimaginative & overrated genre you'll ever come across.
Kiss made a name with rave, techno, hardcore, drum & bass and many other styles. It used them to get the monies to bring in the rap scum & now deserts those who've made it. It's about loyalty, there's 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week which will now be full of crap & hip-hop, you think that's fair on those listeners who tuned into the DJs like JA ? |

What the are YOU talking about?
I'm not really talking about this whole thing, but the rap scene being maligned all the time. Have you ever given it a chance? You're much too conservative I guess, it wouldn't surprise me since you seem to be from England.
But I suppose you're talking about the stuff YOU hear from the rap/hiphop side, which couldn't possibly be good in any way, and if it's anything like that then I agree with you. |

I have.
I used to listen to a lot of rap, stuff from the more respected/educated artists such as Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, Mr Lif, Aesop Rock, Cannibal Ox, Jurassic 5, The Beastie Boys etc, and it wasn't long before it began to bore the out of me. Sage Francis is pretty much the only rapper that I can tolerate anymore, the rest of it gets tiresome very, very quickly. |

you must be totally stupid. The rap shows get most of the airplay as it is, what's the point in kiss bringing in even more of them, in place of the shows from genres which got the station to where it is now, without whom there'd be NO station for them to pollute. The listeners who'd tune in weekly for the shows, what a way to say "thanks" If you're so ignorant that you can't see these facts, and being a youngster who represents the "next generation" of music fan, god help us all |

Well I'm glad you gave it a shot. Of course not all can like rap and vice versa, but I'm still glad.

You need to chill out a bit fella. This is the reason why i don't bother posting outside of the uk forum as the average mental age of this place appears to be 3 years old. I just thought the news might interest a few of you.
Anyway it's not all bad news (taken from vonyc.com):
