i got a ticket today.. for "parking in a fire route" lol... there was no signs... saying fire route.. so i took pictures:) and its a 150$ ticket so it pissed me off knowing that if i went up on the sidewalk instead i woulda got a 25$ ticket.. anyways.. this happened while i was working in a store unloading heavy tools and boxes into the store.. and i literally couldnt carry them all across the parking lot.. so i had to park there... court date.. march 08th.. what should i do:( anyone have ideas?
Also got a ticket yesterday for going 72 in a 50.. it got lowered to 60 in a 50. and to only 40$.. but still thats not the point.. i would like to fight this one too. i have a dat for it in april.. anyone know anything about this? |

where did you get the parking ticket?
i think if you read at the back of the ticket - it tells you how you can dispute it... |

My friend got a parking ticket for parking on the side street of the empty parking lot a few blocks down from The Guv towards the LCBO.
I don't think he was able to pay it online, because he doesn't have a Canadian address. So he just ignored it. |

I find this so funny.
When I saw the name of this thread, I, literally, IMMEDIATELY, thought "D!abolic" thread! And said to myself "Oh, I wonder what he'll say in this one re: parking tickets...."
Then I looked over and saw it wasn't one of his posts!! and I was actually quite shocked!
It just sounded like a topic he'd start and ask for advice on, or complain about.

you have to go in person to set the court date but you can conveniently pay online.
Isnt that interesting?
Note how the places to fight it are in completely obscure places without parking.
The parking fine system in toronto is a form of what i call passive corruption. |

I believe that there is also a # you can call to set an apt. with the prosecutor so that you don't have to go in person to set a date.
I'm glad they make it inconvenient to go to court...otherwise, think of how many more frivolous cases would clogging up the courts! It's bad enough as it is.
How about people suck it up, take responsibility for their ILLEGAL actions, and pay their LEGITIMATE tickets, for example? If you're caught speeding, YOU WERE SPEEDING...so pay the ing ticket. You speed, you take your chances...
For every legit dispute that goes before the courts, I'm sure there are *countless* frivolous ones where people are ignorant of the law, hoping for a reduction, hoping the cop doesn't show, blah blah.
Having said that...I feel that there should be compensation available to people who are forced to fight tickets that shouldn't have been issued in the first place...specifically because of the hassle and time required to successfully dispute a ticket. |

Honest to fckin god, I am gettin so pissed off at the parking ticket situation. I recently found out(actually i got 2 tickets 2 days in a row) I can't park on the street in front of my friends house from 12 am - 9 am in Bloor West village unless I buy a permit. There isnt parking available anywhere near her house. now how in retarded is that??:whip: What if ur relatives from out of town come to visit you- where are they supposed to park? SO fckin stupid- no actually incredibly poor how the gov't of toronto/ontario is. 15% taxes on everything and still they want money for parking. Man I miss the states! Less taxes, less unnecessary BS to worry about!
Sorry and thats my rant for today! |

I don't care for tickets, I just pay them.
For anyone working full time, it's unfair, as it costs more to take the day off than it is to pay the ticket, guilty or not. The system sux. |
