Swing?
View this Thread in Original format
DJ Balti
Hi,

I've had a review for one of my tracks on another forum and I've seen this term before and its probably very simple in meaning but I don't know exactly what it is. The quote is below:

"i like the idea of the lead, and the sounds you've used, but it sounds a touch out of time for me. like the swing is off."

So is the swing something specific or just a bit out of time in comparison to other elements within a track?

Thanks in advance. :)

Swing is used a lot to give music more of a groove. It's when notes are slightly off an exact quantised position. Live drummers play this way.

Yes, the reviewer is probably saying that this melody is slightly different in timing to the rest of the track making it sound awkward.
