How many of you regularly use multi samples for your instruments?

Using multi samples has only really made sense to me when concerning live instruments or really expensive/rare synths with a very specific sound, not easily replicated. I feel like a lot of sounds in these sample packs are just for those people who like 'ready meal' music and don't want to create their own sounds.

I was just curious as to how many people actually use multi samples to substitute synths on a regular basis and for what reason.

Thoughts?

Sort of off topic but what exactly is multi-sampling :eyespop:

Multisamples are a collection of single note hits recorded from the same instrument at various intervals up and down the scale.

These are imported into a sampler and can be played like the original (to a degree). That is multisampling.

hmm i usually synthesize my own synths and stuff but for like instruments like guitar or harpsicord or violin or some realistic instrument I typically use samples. Those synths are very expensive. I'd rather get a sample of middle C and work from there. So to answer your question, of course it would be great to synthesize everything, but a combo of both samples and synthesis can still make fabulous sounds.

Rarely, if ever.

I always tend to use my own patches, but in my latest track I used a sampled Nord Lead. Just a basic supersaw really. I just couldn't recreate the brightness and the way it sounds filtered.
But I layered it with my own synths to make it sound less generic.
Low Profile
Never use them, I use the occasional acoustic guitar sound (but rarely for trance, though), but I like to synthesize all my sounds, because if I want to change something, I don't have to go and look for another sample, I can just tweak it on my synth.

i never use multisamples for synthsounds.. but a lot for strings, choirs and other orchestral instruments.
