| Hey everyone, I was looking to make this my next purchase to my setup. Just wondering if anyone has used this piece, any praise or complaints? Looks like a good piece of hardware, i've used the vlz line of mixers before and this is supposed to be the next step up. New pre-amps, firewire connection, built in audio interface. Any comments will be appreciated. :D |

The mixer looks nice but I don't think I could justify spending almost as much on the mixer on the Firewire I/O card ($400 just for the card!!) . I would rather spend $800 and get a MOTU firewire setup, with many more routing options, but since I just did it is easy to say that. It will cost you almost $1000 just for this mixer and the firewire card.
If you are partial to Mackie the Onyz 400F looks like a nice setup as well.
I have the 1604 VLZ which I really like , and it looks like they have made circuitry improvement with the Onyx series. If you are just getting it for the mixer I think this thing looks sweet, but if you are doing it for the sake of a firewire interface, I would consider something else since the I/O option card is spendy. |

That is a good deal. I would go for it if you are ok with only having 2 outs. The reason I went for an interface with more outputs was to be able to send VSTs/samples to hardware FX. |
