I dont want to cause any trouble, and I understand muslim's anger over the caricatures (I lived in muslim countries for 8 years of my life), but isnt this exactly what caused the caricatuers to be drawn in the first place, and the wrong way to go about protesting them?

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - A Pakistani Muslim cleric and his followers offered rewards amounting to over $1 million for anyone who killed Danish cartoonists who drew caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad that have enraged Muslims worldwide.

The cleric offered the bounty during Friday prayers as Muslim anger against the cartoons flared anew in parts of Asia.
Weeks of global protests over the cartoons have triggered fears of a clash of civilizations between the West and Islam, and have led to calls on all sides for calm.
On Friday, thousands rallied in Pakistan, police in Bangladesh blocked demonstrators heading for the Danish embassy in Dhaka and in the Indian city of Hyderabad, police fired teargas shells and batons to beat back hundreds of protesters, who had stoned shops and disrupted traffic.
Protests in Pakistan this week have resulted in at least five deaths and hundreds of detentions, and on Friday it became the latest country where Denmark has decided to temporarily close its embassy.
The Danish foreign ministry also issued a travel warning for Pakistan, urging any Danes to leave as soon as possible.
In the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar, cleric Maulana Yousef Qureshi said he had personally offered to pay a bounty of 500,000 rupees ($8,400) to anyone who killed a Danish cartoonist, and two of his congregation put up additional rewards of $1 million and one million rupees plus a car.
"If the West can place a bounty on
Osama bin Laden and Zawahri we can also announce reward for killing the man who has caused this sacrilege of the holy Prophet," Qureshi told Reuters, referring to the al Qaeda leader and his deputy Ayman al Zawahri.
The cleric leads the congregation at the historic Mohabat mosque, on street known for goldsmith shops in the provincial capital of North West Frontier Province -- a stronghold of Pakistan's Islamist opposition parties.
The cartoons were first published in Denmark last September, but last month newspapers and magazines in Europe and elsewhere began republishing to assert principles of freedom of expression.
Muslims believe images of the Prophet are forbidden.

old news, lots of people placed a bounty on his head soon as this came out.
and let's be realistic, if the leaders want him dead...he will die. |

respect our religion...or we'll kill you. respect our religion, but we don't care about your laws (or international law, in attacking the embassy)
slightly hypocritical, no?
let's face it...the concillitory responses from western nations is very much politically motivated and aimed at pacifying the militant fanatics.
I bet that most leaders, non-muslims, and even most muslims themselves are quietly thinking "wow, these people are f**king nuts". |

yeah but their power is increasing dramatically because of it.
(I am NOT saying they are correct in their approach, merely saying the world is paying much closer attention to their demands now since they started getting extremist)
I kinda see it like courtney love... act crazy enough and regardless of what you do otherwise people will pay attention. |

What scares me extremists like these live right here in Toronto, TODAY.
Yes Mohammed is the most sacred, however, even PICTURES OF JESUS is an insult to Islam.
Mohamed Elmasry is the chair and president of the Canadian Islamic Congress, the nation's largest non-profit Islamic association.
He says, "Islam forbids two- or three-dimensional images of any prophet, including Muhammad, Moses, Jesus and Abraham. All the prophets are considered messengers of God." Source.
We have many extremists right here, right now. And unfortunately, some are leading the communities. |

Dude, I know Mohamed Elmasry (I volunteer every week with his son) and he is one of the most open-minded and peaceful Muslim leaders I've ever met. Just because he mentioned a FACT about a religion, it doesn't mean he's an extremist! You'll never see this man performing ANY violent actions. |

I believe religion is jus a idealogy, that all these beliefs were written and created by men. that alone destroys all credibility.
religion is jus a attempt to try and influence people the RIGHT way,to live MORALLY right.
but then again were human, so we were bound to find a way to mess all that up. |

Muslims now attacking Buddhists
| quote: | SRINAGAR, India (Reuters) - Ten people including five policemen, were injured in Indian Kashmir on Friday when Muslim protesters clashed with police as trouble flared over charges that Buddhists had desecrated the Koran, authorities said. A curfew was imposed in the towns of Kargil and Leh in Kashmir's Buddhist-dominated Ladakh region, for the second day in Leh.
The clashes erupted on Wednesday after torn pages of the Koran were found scattered by the road in Leh, police said. Leh is about 435 km east of Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, India's only Muslim-majority state.
Several houses and cars were burnt in the violence, but no injuries were reported.
On Friday, 10 people, including five policemen, were injured when Muslim protesters clashed with police in Kargil, police said.
They said a curfew was imposed in Kargil after protesters ransacked a government office, set fire to the house of a police officer and hurled stones at police and government buildings.
Muslims alleged Buddhists were responsible for the alleged desecration, but police said they were investigating the incident.
Over two dozen people have been detained for questioning by police, and authorities have called for a meeting of Buddhist priests and Muslim clerics.
"We are trying to calm tensions down and security has been beefed up across the district," senior police officer K. Rajindra said.
Jammu and Kashmir has a sizeable Buddhist minority in Ladakh and a majority Hindu population in the Jammu region, neither of which supports the separatist revolt by Muslim militants against New Delhi's rule in the rest of the state.

He's a leader, leaders don't perform violence themselves. Remember what Elmasry said on the Michael Coren Show not too long ago? That's very extremist. It's quite obvious, apology or not. |
