So, how many of you all have I pursuaded to buy the V6's? (pg. 3)

I got mine today, and listened to them.
Yes, I agree -- very rich and textured sound, also quite loud and clear (in fact I lowered the volume by 1 level on my CD player for every CD that I have).

The difference for me was great but not that astonishing, I'd previously been working with Aiwa HP-X111 that are also "cans" but by no means professional ones.

OK, I do have a few comments. The cord is not that long; on my previous set the cord was much longer. Secondly, how can I use them optimally in mixing? Do I simply listen to the right half, while having the left half turned sideways? And how can I maximize the bass/beat that I need to hear clearly, I tried switching the EQ's on my mixer but that doesn't affect what I'm hearing in the cued signal in these headphones. Or am I wrong? Sorry for the stupid questions, but I want to use these great headphones in the best and most productive way I can :)

And also this question: do these headphones offer better hearing protection in some way, compared with others, or no?

thanks

Well, like I said, don't get the V6's if you utterly NEED the sidways swivel feature. How about you simply place one earcup on your head, either in front of, behind, or above your ear, for one eared monitoring? If you find that you ABSOLUTELY NEED a side swivel feature, get the Sennheiser HD25's.

And, a question, with the amount of bass they have, AND the amount of isolation they have, would you really, really need to boost the bass? Try then on other sources than your mixer; is your mixer bass-light.

Just get your ears and brain used to their style of bass by listening to them on a variety of sources, and you shouldn't need to boost the bass....

Yes, they block out a lot of outside noise. You can test this yourself. Put them on, and make some noise. What can you hear, and what can you not hear? The amount they block out is almost always significant, but it usually is more when they are circumaural (around your ears) than supraural (over your ears). If your ears are small, they should block out a lot; if they are not, get the pads. If, after using them, you find them unable to block out enough noise after all of this, than you might want to look into the Sennheiser HD280 Pro's, although I doubt that will happen.

A good way to figure out how good these headphones are is to not only play them on multiple sources and with multiple types of music... but, after doing that for a while, to go back and listen to your OLD headphones with those sources and types of music. You should see the faults of your old headphones much easier after getting accustomed to the V6's.

I havent been too active in this "v-6" discussion, but believe me, I've been reading your posts and well, you have persuaded me to buy the v-6 headphones...

Quick question, if you cant find the v-6 you said the mdrv-7506 are just as good right? Because those are the ones i picked up, and to tell you the truth, they are amazing....much lighter than the 700's and honestly, fit my ear very well...im surprised that they create such dynamic bass...thanks for the advice..but i hope the 7506 are the same if not just as good as the v-6's...peace.

As Gluegun and I have REPEATEDLY stated in these forums, the Sony MDR-V6 and the MDR-7506 are the SAME freakin' headphones! The primary difference: The 7506 has a gold-plated plug tip (versus nickel-plated on the V6). DUH! :p :p :p

I got my v6's yesterday.. for 62 bucks I'm impressed :D, as compared to the v700's.. I am still contemplating :p

ooh I know gluegun is gonna be pissed about that one, harhar!:)

Naw, I'm not that annoyed. These things take time. Remember, listen to lots of types of music, and lots of types of electronica, with these, on multiple sources. And, once you get used to them, do the same with your V700's. You should notice a big difference. Also, get used to the V6's in build quality and comfort--test them, tweak them, get to know them. THEN go back to your V700's; I am sure you will be more opinionated then.

Don't worry. It's inevitable. The greatest of the V700 lovers on this forum *will* fall, give it time. Maybe the Beyerdynamic pads will do it, in the end...

You know the saying, "The Bigger they are..."

You have persuaded me to persuade my brother to get the Beyerdynamic DT-250. I own the Audio Technica ATH-Pro 6 and am quite comfy with them but the DT-250 really do sound better. I should have smuggled my old phones in the box and taken the DT-250s myself :)

The Beyerdynamics - simply put - kick ass!
Gluegun
Heh, don't they, though? So, what do you like most about 'em??

harhar you thought I would be changing my icon to the v6's.. well I must admit I like em, I'm listening with them right now

I'm liken em more every day

but the icon isn't changing YET!!!!! :D

is the sony mdr-v600 the same thing? or are those a different model?
El~ZaPo
They're not the same!
Sony MDR-V600 was brought out to replace the 'old' Sony MDR-V6, but as it turned out, people hated the V600 since the V6 was WAY better. Sony decided to keep the V6 around at the same time but it is harder to find since the V600 is in with their 'DJ' line of headphones, which are getting most of the mainstream attention these days (even though they suck).
