k.. i've got two sound cards.. but traktor wont let me choose both.. so im wondering.. is there any solutions to this? Thanks

I was asking the same question a few threads below...

Traktor DOES NOT let you enable 2 sound cards. I looked on the Native Instrument forums and found that it's much easier than anything. All you need is ONE soundcard with multiple channels (At least 4 outputs)

Basically all you need then is the mixer, the proper cables, and your laptop/desktop.

Hook up the L/R RCA deck 1 channels on the mixer and connect it to your LS/RS speaker output on the laptop, do the same for the deck 2 channels and hook up to the LB/RB speaker output.

Then go into Traktor, click on Setup, and External Mixer and configure it like so:

DECK A LEFT (MONO) 2: FRONT L/R
DECK A RIGHT 3: FRONT L/R

DECK B LEFT (MONO) 4: REAR L/R
DECK B RIGHT 5: REAR L/R

Just gotta make sure to go to your Control Panel in the Sound + Speeches option, click on Audio > Advanced > and change the setting to QUADROPHONIC, do the same in any sound card software you have too (i.e. Creative software).

It should all work... BTW, you'll probably need dual RCA to single 1/8" stereo cables to go from mixer to sound card.

Here's the thread I was referring to on the NI forums:

Hope it works! (Cause I'm waiting for my mixer and plan to do the same thing ;))

EDIT: From what I understand from that thread, it should look like this:

thanks.. but i know for a fact.. that some people using cubase or some other ASIO drivers can figure a way to use both sound cards with traktor.
Low Profile
get asio4All, that'll allow you to use several cards under one driver, and then let Traktor use that driver.. at least the Cubase VST driver is capable of this (I've never actually tried this with asio4All, but it should be possible).

... if not, you can get a creative Live USB card for 50$ and use asio4All with that. Then you'll be free of the 2 soundcard problem.

oh, and Munchy, schematic nr. 1 will NOT work! you have to connect the speakers to your mixer, since (obviously) that's where the sound is actually mixed together. You can't mix it in the mixer and expect the mix to flow out of your computer.... :p

And also, you don't NEED a mixer to use Traktor! There is a very nice built in mixer which works perfectly (although, of course, having an external mixer makes your live alot easier :) )

traktor automatically recognizes it......asio drivers = no noticeable lag....ive had it for a few months and am still lovin it

it also gives u 4 stereo channels (8 mono) for 4 deck action with the new traktor
