I am a Trance, Techno & House DJ since 1989. I was born in Bangkok and have been around in the clubbing scene here for almost two decades now. I have been playing side by side Thailand's Top DJs at various events and organize my DJ shows at numerous venues in Thailand.
ARE YOU PROUD TO BE A THAI ?
Yes.
HOW MANY LANGUAGES DO YOU SPEAK FLUENTLY ?
I speak fluent Thai and English.
HOW OLD ARE YOU ?
I am in my 30's.
HOW DID YOU GET YOUR FIRST GIG ?
A club hired me to do Sunday nights because it was the main DJ's day-off.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE MUSIC YOU PLAY ?
Driving dance music with slackened and emotional elements.
DO YOU USE CD OR VINYL ?
I use both CDs and Vinyl.
WHERE DO YOU GET THE MUSIC YOU PLAY FROM ?
I get promos from various record labels around the world and I also shop for new music.
DO YOU PRODUCE MUSIC ?
Producing and DJing are two very different worlds and not many can manage them professionally at the same time. For me, I choose just to DJ and focus fully to it.
WHAT DO YOU DO AT NIGHT WHEN YOU'RE NOT DJING ?
I get new music every week and I am busy listening to them. Sometime I might go out to see friends that are DJing in various clubs.
WHAT DO YOU DO TO PREPARE FOR A DJ GIG ?
For a 3 hour gig, I have to prepare at least 30 hours or more listening to new records, re-listening to old records, sound check the club's dj equipment / sound system and do everything to make sure that I will give everyone a good performance.
ARE YOU NERVOUS BEFORE A DJ GIG ?
No. Once the show starts, I enjoy myself and do my best performance.
DESCRIBE THE CLUBBING SCENE IN BANGKOK ?
It is getting better every year. DJs are getting respected for the style of music they play, Clubbers have good musical taste / knowledge and we are seeing big name international DJs perform here more often than before.
ARE YOU FAMOUS ?
Even though I might be more well-known than many other DJs in this country, I don't think I'm famous.
EVER DREAMED OF BECOMING A SUPERSTAR DJ ?
No. But I used to dream of standing behind the turntables and facing a group of people dancing on the dancefloor which finally has become a reality.
WHY DO YOU THINK PEOPLE LIKE YOU ?
People that like me tell me that it is because of the music I play and many young DJs respect me for doing something for the Trance and Techno scene in Bangkok. Many venues before I first played there were house music clubs. I introduced Trance and Techno nights in those places making way for upcoming new Trance / Techno DJs a chance to also perform at those venues.
ADVICE TO SOMEONE WANTING TO BE A DJ ?
Do not care about bad things others say about your music when you are starting. Never give up. Nothing is wrong if you want to DJ a genre of dance music which is not popular in your area. You must enjoy and believe in what you are doing because if you don't, it will be impossible for others to enjoy and respect your works.
WHAT IS THE GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT OF YOUR LIFE ?
To be a DJ.
WHAT PLANS DO YOU HAVE FOR THE FUTURE ?
I want to continue DJing and look forward to play at places that I've never before.
