More CPU in FL.

It seems everytime I try to make a tune with more than, say, 12 open channels, the output is reduced to crackling and white noise. I can still here the tune, but not without interference. My ram is 512mb so I don't think it should happen. I do switch to mono in most of my tunes so i'm at a loss as to what is causing it.
Also, when I run FL, I always make sure to have minimal background apps running to free up memory but it still happens. Can anyone lend a hand? |

| I have 512mb of ram too..and it happens as well. Do you have a audio production soundcard? If so..that should help you reduce CPU. Also, having a good processor would do you good as well. |

If you're using many VST synths then your CPU is the problem. If you're trying to calculate the audio stream from 10-12 software synthesizers then that's gonna be one hell of a workout for your CPU, no matter how good your soundcard is, or how much RAM you've got.
If you're using samples, then more RAM might help. |

Tricks to making FL Studio Run Better:
1) Shutdown all other process (Virus Scans, Messengers)
2) Export loops into samples and import them as wav files
3) Increase the reading buffer like all the way. It prevents crackling and popping at like 100% cpu usage but playing sequences are a little bit behind. |

| Ok. The reading buffer is news to me. How can you turn it up? |

| yeah i know a card doesnt really affect your performance alot. I just figured it'll help ease the static if your running a good PC. |

I have the same prob with my PC. I have an AMD 3000+ 64 with 1gb ram and an Audiophile 2496. But if I have more than 10 VSTi's in a track it jumps like f@*k. I am gonna ugrade my Board, RAM (2GB), and CPU soon tho, so hopefully shouldn't be a problem then.
PC :tongue2 |
