i don't understand any of this in my simplistic mind. why would anyone think the holocaust didn't exist? you have to be a pretty lunatic conspiracy theorist for that, or either you're just stiring up .
on the other hand, why is it such a holy event that there is even a law against denying it? that doesn't make the slightest bit of sense. why aren't there laws against denying every war where huge amounts of people were slaughtered?
then this comment

how does this kind of law give any warranty that genocides won't happen in the future?

| I think what basicly happened was he choose to question the existing theory (some would call it fact...). But thats all part of peer review though. It's the duty of these types of people to question and seek proof. |

What does that have to do with freedom of speech? It's bad enough to not have it, but to get jailed for it? :wtf: Ask trancaholic & St_Andrew, I lend out my support to Denmark during the Muhammad cartoons incidident. Does that mean I liked all or some of the cartoons? Free speech is free speech. And once you criminalize saying anything, well, that's a sad day. ;) |

how about they are all limitations on freedom of speech? since when does anyone enjoy unlimited freedom of speech? why should there be freedom without responsibility?
whilst jail for this is extreme, find me 1 historian that denies the holocaust that isnt a nazi apologist, an anti semitic bastard, or a race hate peddler. youll find plenty of similarity in the US where hate-crime laws stand toe-to-toe with the 1st amendment. |

In what way is trying to limit people's freedom of speech a way of preventing that history repeats itself?! :conf:
Clearly if they don't have a point no one will listen to it, there is no need to have such laws. In fact, it is against all our basic principles of in society to limit free speech when it comes to opinions like this (who knows, maybe the holocaust didn't happen?).
Anyway, perhaps I should start boycotting austria :p |

Dude, the kkk (to my understanding) and other racist writters etc hide behind the 1st Amendment, does that mean I want it to be repealed from the constitution?
Plus, if you read the article, this dude is questioning certain details not denying that the Holocaust ever happened altogether. |
