Don't know why I'm posting this but this sample has like the best atmosphere I've heard in a while. Check it out.

I especially love the female voice part. Now to find a girl who can do that for me for one of my songs :-).

Just to make this post worthwhile...what's the key to making great background pads and sounds for atmosphere

Deus Ex 2: The Invisible War

The music from Deus Ex 1 was better.

Deus Ex music is dope :D I love those games (although DX 1 was better... the best game EVER!!!! :D )

Athmosphere is a pretty cool synth(sampler?), but you could synthesize most of this with regular subtractive synthesizers, although it would take a while :p

And Yes, music from DX1 was also better (but DX2 music was also great :) )

Here is an ambient track I made a short time ago, very dark, very industrial. Should work as an intro.

I used the above mentioned Spectrasonics Atmosphere and Linplug Albino in combination with the excellent FX Plugin "PiWarp". It works similar to a ringmodulator, so if you want to get your pads really dark and less harmonic, thats the way to go.

You can download PiWarp here:
