This was 1 cirque show that I wish I didn't have seats close to the stage.... If you're a bit further away, you get the whole scope of the wide stage.
Some people (cough~Fuad~cough) were expecting more acrobatics, but this show is all about the music and dancing, with some acrobatic acts. Overall, its a BEAUTIFUL show, and every singer (3 female, 1 male) was outstanding!! Costumes and make-up were cool too- not as extravagent as other Cirque shows, w/the exception of a few people, but definitely better than 'Corteo'.
At one point this song "One Love" begins (which happens to be Sasha's mix- music sample on the website), and for some reason it sounds familiar, but not in a Cirque way... there was a 'twinkle' at the beginning of the song that sounded soooo familiar... 1/2 way thru that awesome song, it clicks- the twinkle sample came from 'Open your eyes'-Nalin & Kane. Ha! It was definitely my favorite song of the evening, which was surprising, cuz I thought "Alegria" would be (I LOVE that song so much), but they saved "Alegria" for last, and they had the guy sing it to start. Now, I loved everything else the guy sang all night- in fact he was my favorite singer- but he and that song did not 'go' together well, in my books. Soon after, the ladies joined in on the singing, but by then the crowd was also preoccupied with all the balloons bouncing over us, trying to touch them if they came by, it detracted from the song.
And Holy Moly, was practically everyone on stage YUMMY!!! From the band members, to the acrobats, to the dancers. Wow....
There was also an opening act, Nitza, whose songs were very Middle Eastern influenced. Nice voice & sexy belly dancing moves.
Enjoy the show if you're going to see it soon!
Went out for a few (dozen) drinks afterwards w/Cono_Sur and 4-Play (< outta control u f'in c*nt! ;) ) & their respectable parties. Had to celebrate Faiz's birthday w/them- happy b-day hun! |

| Absolutely incredible show. Much more music based then ther last show Corteo, this one was beautiful to watch. Being a bit farther back did turn out to be a blessing, as I could see everything that was going on. The lighting and sound was great, the music and dancing was perfect... it was an excellent show. Id definately recommend it to others. |

My first time seeing a Cirque du Soleil and it was quite good. I was really impressed!! However, I was a little disappointed that there weren't many acrobatics. But then again, like Natalie said, this show was supposed to be more about music & dancing.
Highlights of the night for me:
- The 4 gymnists - 3 of the guys would stand in a circle with their hands in the middle, the 4th guy would stand on their hands and do a flipin the air and land back on their hands!! It literally had my jumping out of my seat. It was sooo cool and dangerous at the same time!
- The hula-hoop girl was crazy too - at one point she had 5 or 6 (I lost count) all going at the same time.
- I also liked the stage setup, the graphics displayed on the curtains and the lights. It gave the whole building a surreal feeling.
- I enjoyed the music was as well. Most of the tracks were right in line with what I like to listen to.
- The opening act (Nitza) was REALLY good as well. I'm going to have to look her up.
It was also nice meeting up with Natalie, Graham, and Fuad (u drunk c*nt) afterwards for drinks and such and to also celebrate Fuad's brother's birthday. If you read this - Happy Bday Faiz! :)
All in all - I had fun and would definitely check out another Cirque show.
Cheers. :toocool: |

Apples to oranges, and this is what Fuad was comparing it to. Thing is, this show is about music and dance, and not much acrobatics. If you appreciate the music & on-stage antics, then you'll like the show.
But as far as spectacle goes, it's pretty high up there. The visuals are amazing. |
