"It was a breakthrough, and the Internet played a critical role," said Xu Zhiyong, a civil rights lawyer in Beijing. "If something is written well enough, they can't stop it from spreading. People will find a way to read it."

A simple mouse will bring down the government; it's only a matter of time really.
The communist regime is holding their country together like sand falling through their fingers.
I believe there will be a theshold reached and a breaking point within my lifetime.
It's going to be very, very messy I feel...:sadgreen: |

Probably won't be good for their economy when it does crumble, but in the end when the people are freed from their repression, China will be vary strong.
I think this shows why the google affair really doesn't matter. In the end, as more people have access to the internet, their knowledge will grow... regardless of the censoring. |

Pfftt. Most newly Rich Chinese will never allow so called "Communist" state to crumble. Money is sweeter than freedom and money can buy freedom. China is not a communist state anymore. China is ruled by a dictatorship but not a "Proteleriat" one for the last 20 years...
It's a heaven for capitalists so why would they want a perfectly working money machine to slow down or stop? Chinese ppl are too busy to get rich quick and they have all the freedom to do that. Its called "Wild Capitalism".
Any system change now, will it up for them when they're on the brink of becoming the worlds greatest power.
Old Chinese saying: " never change horses when passing over a river"

"Wild capitalism, characterized by private property ownership, egocentric competition and utilitarism for own economic gain, blind free market forces determining the prices of goods and services, and minimal state intervention, is an engine of poverty and ecological catastrophes".
Sounds familiar???? |

Yea it sounds like every single market on the planet. We're all looking for arbitrage here. Don't let wishful thinking and idealistic beliefs fool you. |

| I don't think that a sudden switch from communism to democracy, from socialist economics to capitalism is good for China. Rather a gradual change as is happening now in that country is the way it should be. |
