My younger brother DJ Lac has already posted something about this, but I'm gonna give you guys more details on what we do. We work for a promoting company called Soul Kool. Currently we are under contract to promote Ministry of Sound (MoS) CDs. So, we have a street team that goes out into the city and hit the clubs and venues that have electronic music events. We basically hand out flyers, sample CDs, and any promo items. Our goal, of course is to generate sales for the CDs we promote. Currently we are promoting the MoS Annual CD. What we normally do is poster the posts surrounding clubs, hand out flyers to the people going into the club, and out of the club. We also flyer the parked cars. In return, SK provides its street teamers with all sorts of free promo items such as records, record bags, T-Shirts, jackets, CDs, posters, and free passes to certain events. If you're a hardline promoter, then you'll probably get more privileges. You can get paid, or they'll pay for you to have a cell phone. You can get invited to private MoS parties. Basically, you get a lot of hook ups.
Ministry of Sound is the largest electronic music label in the world so it's an exciting opportunity to work with them. SK will also be involved in more major projects that will later be discussed once you have become members, but this job is worthwhile. We are expecially looking for promoters in NYC since they have quick access to clubs and other venues.
