It's existed for several years and it's free.
I believe because it's Federal it only regulates calls from out of state, not calls inside a state :conf: . Taking into account most telemarketers usually originate from out of state this sounded like a good idea but it's not complete.

Some states have initiated local do not call lists. The thread started should check.

Here's some reading material:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs...cverifyalrt.htm

# Understand that some calls are not covered. Once your number has been on the registry for 31 days, most telemarketing calls will stop. However, you still may get:

* calls from — or on behalf of — political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors;
* calls from companies with whom you have an existing business relationship. A company may call you for 18 months after you make a purchase or three months after you submit an inquiry or application;
* calls from companies you’ve given permission to call.

# File a complaint. If your number has been on the registry for at least 31 days, and a telemarketer calls, complain to the FTC. Visit DONOTCALL.GOV or call 1-888-382-1222 (TTY1-866-290-4236). You’ll need to provide the date of the call and the phone number or name of the company that called you.

Oh believe me I tried that. For a whole ing month. They still called every day. These people will call regardless. At least when I pick up the phone Cingular wireless has it tracked down on my monthly statement.

Lepanto, yeah I am gay. That's the twist. I actually ordered GUYS gone wild, but they keep calling me about GIRLS gone wild. At first I threw a fit and went off about how if I called their cell and hastled them about getting gay porn they'd probably throw a constitutional amendment banning gays from having cell phones. But now I'm just tired of getting phone calls.

I'm going to call their 1-800 number now...for the 4th time.

I guess if your videos are doing ty, just throw a midget in there, that'll boost sales. Because midgets are HILARIOUS. :rolleyes:

i've personally seen the GGW Games and, while there were some nice moments, overall it was retarded.

Oh my god. I lost again!

I called and got a series of black chicks telling me that my number wasn't even in the system. I told them the whole 3 month story and they said they'd put me on a "Do Not Call" list. I told them that I know their tricks and know that they'll call me on that list as well, as they have for the past 3 months. They pretended like they didn't understand.

I even pulled the gay & black card, with no sympathy. I said something like, "Do you know what it's like to be gay and have people call you every day to solicit striaght porn? You're black right? Well, how would you feel if I called your cell phone everyday and solicit white pride videos? How would that make you feel? You think it'd be offensive?"

In the end they told me to call after 230pm when another manager who could help me would be there.

They closed at 230pm.

I'm ed. Completely ed. I called a lawyer and am waiting for him to get back on me for legal advice.

p.s. and tangent rant: DO NOT GIVE GIRLS GONE WILD YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION! (I read upon this) a lot of people get billed monthly with new videos after ordering one, whether or not they agree to it.
UWM
Can't you have Cingular block incoming calls from that number? I can even do it from my phone.
starboy
drive to the headquarters and throw acid in their faces.. problem solved.
jdat
contact the better business bureau. IT's easy to file a complaint online.

Also check for a instate do not call list. What state are you located in?

Get the law on your side. Don't just bitch and moan about it and go at it one on one with the stupid customer service reps as they are useless.

Ha ha, you can read me like a book! But really, I've gotten a lot of time to work on music.

UWM,
I tried contacting Cingular. They said that they could block all incoming calls or none (advanced technology my ass). In the worst case scenario, they said I could have my number changed for free.

starboy,
sounds like a good idea. But I feel actually pretty relieved knowing that someone actually broke into Joey Francis's home (the guy who owns "Girls Gone Wild") and sodomized his stupid ass with a dildo while taking videos. Unfortunately sodomizer got found and sentenced to jail. :(

jdat,
true dat. But I get some information from the reps at GGG once in a while when I do talk to them, like the little ponds who don't care and give me more inside scoop on the company. But I have filed a complaint with the BBB and the FCC just now. So I guess I have to wait for about 2 weeks for them to beat up GGG while I still get calls around 7pm.
