Hey kid, if you weren't such a precociously naive, snot-nosed adolescent, maybe you'd actually understand that the only way to fight government corruption is to shed light on their misdeeds so that the majority can vote them out, or in this case, build enough of a movement so that we can impeach them. ;)

"...under his interpretation ... he could suspend the writ of habeas corpus, ... saying: This authorization enabled me to do anything in furtherance of the war effort. I can suspend the writ of habeas corpus unilaterally even though Congress hasn't ...

He could authorize breaking and entering of homes in order to secure intelligence to fight the war against terrorism, despite the fact that there is an authorized procedure in an amendment to FISA that governs physical searches...

...the principle that the President has established here, if gone unchecked, will, as Justice Robert Jackson said, lie around like a loaded gun and be utilized by any future incumbent who claims a need.

And the history of power teaches us one thing, that if it's unchecked, it will be abused.”

"...agents of the 902nd Military Intelligence Group from Fort Meade, MD ... infiltrated the Quaker Meeting House, and then filed a report designating us a CREDIBLE THREAT.

The president’s agents DID NOT come to worship alongside us, to help us plan our educational program, or to protect us.

"And it wasn’t just us. Shortly after NBC aired its report, churches and other groups began sharing their experiences of infiltration and intimidation with us.

Saint Maurice’s Catholic Church in Dania, the Unitarian Universalists, the Fort Lauderdale Friends, members of Pax Christi in West Palm Beach, environmental groups, and many others.

"Agents rummaged through trash, attacked and snooped into email, hacked web sites, and listened in on phone conversations ... address books and activist meeting lists have disappeared.”

"In each case the president’s answer has been the same ... Courts and Congress have little or no place to question his decisions.

Our laws provide ample tools for fighting terrorism without eroding basic liberties.

No one, not even a wartime president, is above the law”

So in other words, you're pretty much rooting for them because they're like your winning sports team or something like that - not because you actually agree with their policies, morals (or lack thereof), or anything of substance.

Yeah, go team, go! I'll blindly root for you Bush leaguers even though you want to sell my country down the river.

Terrific.

Has anyone here ever been to Arcata, California? I know that Humboldt County is a beautiful place and I wouldn't mind moving there, myself - especially after reading this:

quote:
On January 4th, 2006, the Arcata city council adopted the New Years Resolution, demanding the impeachment or the resignation of President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard B. Cheney for violations of Constitutional and International law, making it the first city to pass such a resolution. This is the second time the City Council has passed a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Bush.

No not at all. I dont think Bush is the greatest president ever, but im not like you who is blinded by everything, and all you do is bitch and complain about Bush. You depend to much on presidents, in fact, sometimes I could care less which president it is, it doesnt make much of a difference, as long as I'm making money, paying bills, etc etc, who really cares? Its a capitalist society, make money and enjoy life buddy!

YOu should care who the President is, considering over 2000 Americans died in Iraq to give them the right to vote.

In a democratic society voting isn't just a right, it's a responsibility. People that don't vote have no right to be on this forum because they didn't step up to the plate when they had the chance.
If you don't care who the president is, and you don't vote, then you don't have a political voice, unless your under 18, or a legal resident, then that may be an exception.

I highly recommend reading a book about the Great Depression in the 1930s to learn about the results of fiscal irresponsibility in the banking system & the Federal Government. The stock market collapsed, and many of the richest people in America ended up with nothing. Also look at how the economy collapsed in Argentina ( while neighbouring Chile's continued to boom ), which for a long time had a very thriving economy.

The federal debt & its interest does matter because we will pay for it the rest of our lives in taxes. So answer this: Would you rather have your taxes go to medicare & social security, or would you rather it goes to other countries to pay off our debt or its interest. No one has a greater personal impact on our economy than the president.

George Bush doesn't care what happens after he leaves office. We will pay the debt, and someone will be forcedd to raise taxes to save our country from bankruptsy. It is always alot easier to avoid debt, than to get out of debt. If he really cared about permanent low taxes & not just political ratings he would have been more fiscally responsible. In fact small government is one Republican ideal that I like that doesn't exist in todays sold out version of the Republican's.

Blinded by everything? If you haven't noticed by now I'm about as unpartisan as you can get as I owe no allegiance to anyone or anything other than my country and it's Constitution.

Excuse me if I strongly believe that our current president and his administration are a bunch of duplicitously lying, scheming, conniving s who have more or less allied themselves against the hardworking citizens of our country. Excuse me if I have studied the history of his family with it's collusive links to Nazi banking (as well as many other highly unsavory activities that I won't even bother getting into right now.)

And yeah, keep up with that egocentricity and you'll go far in this materialistic, superficial, soulless world - which when looking at the big picture, really (comparatively) only lasts for about a nanosecond on the scale of time. You're a sellout and you're not even 18 yet, amazing.
