CDJ-800MKII's or CDJ-1000's? (pg. 2)

I think that going from .05 to .02 IS a minor design improvement, and you HAVE to include the CDJ-200 in the debate, that makes the point :) If they can offer it on a sub-$300 player, why not their $500-600 unit?
If they had added a few more new features to the 1000, maybe MIDI output or something to that effect, it would have been enough of a differentiation between the models to entice people to buy them.
Is it REALLY necessary to have to pay nearly twice as much to get slighter better accuracy?
I love my 1000's, but I still feel like Pio is taking people for a ride with them.

if they put the 2% range on the 800 and kept it in the same price bracket then the 1000 would not sell AT ALL. by keeping the 2% exclusive to the 1000 (im not counting the 200s in this debate) then they ensure that they will still sell. the 800 mkII is the replacement for the mkI - simply meant to give it some minor design improvements |

| the CDJ200s were not in the argument because they are not digital turntables. whether we agree on the 6% pitch is irrelevent. one thing is undeniable - from a sales POV puttin it on the 800MKII would all but eliminate the 1000 from the market. |

so you may play a gig having left your most recent 40 tunes at home to avoid wasting CD space! |
lol, i doubt i would leave any of my newest tunes at home just beacuase of trying to utilize space on a 25 cent cd.
you have a good point about clubs not having mp3 capability. though it does make sense that if im downloading 320 kps mp3's then why not just play them in that format. saves a step or two. |

It doesn't really save any steps... You setup the 320kbps tracks you downloaded into a playlist in itunes, and click 'burn'. No more work than putting them in a folder and burning them :)

| I say go with a 1000MK2 for the pitch resolution. Don't bother with the MK3, it's not really worth it. |

| go with denon dn-s3500: .02 pitch, built in effects, how much better than both CDJ 1000 and 800 can it get?? Would be silly of you to go for a CDJ... |

| yeah but he wants to get used to the feel of the pioneer. Which brings me to a question, why do people who are just mixing tracks care about the feel of the platter. I mean if you are gonna scratch then I would see where platter makes a huge difference but for cueing its not a big deal. Also the denons can cue like the pioneers |

I don't get the deal about being able to play mp3. Any serious DJ is only going to play good quality recordings... ie. WAV
Mp3 will sound on a big club system |

sup everyone.....
i used to own the denon s3000. i currently own a pair of the cdj1000mk2s and have recently had a chance to try the denon s3500 that my roommate purchased. while u can cue using pioneer's method on them, i just don't like the pitch bending on the unit. for me personally, the platter on the 3500 is not as comfortable and i always overshoot it with the pitch bend buttons.
my roommate also commented on the fact that while his 3500 has more features and is in fact the better bang for the buck, the layout on the pioneer is more intuitive.

I'm in the same upgrade predicament.
I currently have a DNS1000 and love it. Never wanna part with it.
I'd love to grab another deck. I am looking at the CDJ800MKI just because the new MKII model will cause the price drop of the 800MKI.
I don't need MP3 ability because I keep a CD-quality library of music. I rip records to WAV and then burn to CD... no need for MP3.
I'll probably grab the CDJ800MKI or a CDJ1000MKII if the prices drop enough, once the newer models are released. I also know that I'll eventually pickup a DN-S3500 just because I love denon's bang-for-the-buck as for features.
Knowing how to work a variety of equipment can only be a benefit to a DJ. I laugh on the inside when I work audio tech at the nightclub and see DJs not know how to manipulate a DN-S5000. |
