I want to invest in soem Earplugs to save my earing.
Now how much attenuation do yoy think it owuld be fine, and still listen to music enough loud, for a club environment.
I'm thinking bewtween the -9Db or -15Db (Custom Made)
Cost: $130.00/set ($70/set for filters only), I guess that's $200.00
The -20Db is Cost: $15.00/pair
Do you think I can Find alos Cheaper one, but still good ones?
Thanks. |

I use custom -15s
Absolute minimum -15dB is what you should really go for. Given the high SPL I encounter a lot of the time, im buying a pair of -25 filters soon , as I want a bit more reduction, but it all depends on how loud you like it. Personally for me, the quieter the better.
They should let you change the filters included within the first 30 days free of charge- the european branch of the company does at any rate.
oh- and make sure you get the inverted filters- rather than the ones that stick out. |

What are the inverted filters?
I thought there wer eonly 1 kind of filters
Thing is I'm vere far from any of these places, so I have to go to an Audiologist, and then ship them to another country, probably USA.
The -15Db seems to be the standard, so I guess I'll go for those ones.
do you stor ethem in your case, are they easy to loose?
I'ma little worried about keepign them, beacuse they are gonan cost me over 200 $. |

I store them in the soft pouch, which then goes in the leather case.
The leather case then lives in my headphone bag underneath my Sonys, and the headphone bag lives in my UDG headphone case.
Absolutely no danger of losing them, as they go in the second i set unpack my headphones when i get in the venue, and come out when i put my headphones away.
The cost just ensures that I am careful not to lose them!
Inverted filters=means they dont stick out like they do in this pic:

You will be able to get them so the edge of the filter sits flush with the mould (see my headphone pic for pictures of mine) meaning they wont stick out.
-15 is good and very effective.Dont go for the -9dB ones!
I only mention the -25 ones as its what I personally am switching to soon.... all down to personal preference. |

Right. here are mine (ER15):

See the difference in terms of how the filters on your link stick out a little bit?
www.hearingprotection.co.uk. Mine were around £160 fitted. Best money I have ever spent in my life.

I'm curious, exactly what kind of sound pressures will a DJ encounter in the average club? I know that the monitors are often right in your face, and that they have to be loud enough to hear over the already booming floor system (not to mention your headphones).
I know each club is different, but I honestly have no idea what kinds of dB a DJ in a big club is exposed to. 100, 105, 110, higher? I'm asking because I'm probably going to buy a pair of the fitted ER plugs, but I'm not sure if I want 15 or 25. 15 seems like it might not be quite enough, and 25 seems like it may be a bit too much. I know that when I took my ER20s to WMC last year that they did a fantastic job. I could stand right next to the speaker and get punched in the chest with bass and still come out with relatively fresh ears in the morning. They're good for 16dB reduction... |
