greetings from ottawa my fellow TA's!!...
these past few weeks i've really began to grow much hatred towards my job. im a very patient person but it seems like i just cant handle this job anymore! i think this job is causing me more stress and anxiety then school, and its not even that challenging!! since this is a rant thread about employment maybe i should mention where i work lol. you all may be aware of this company, i work at Ipsos-Reid! yea were the annoying "market researchers" who call all across Canada and the US conducting pointless surverys! surprisingly i've been working their since october...i find that a little disconcerting to be honest. but i should stop before i get carried away. feel free to post a rant or two about your job!!.......MUST FIND NEW JOB!!!!!!

id much rather post about the "hatred of annoing typers" aka the ones who type caps, non caps, caps, non caps, etc....thats much more annoying than ANY job ive ever had.
just my two cents.
and now...i sleep. Night!

I think everyone has a time im their lives where they have this situation... anyways here's my 2 cents
I've been working for a company for almost 7 years. the company deals with material technology, research & development in automotive, aerospace, marine etc... i've done work in a wide field consisting of the US military/navy, Nasa, Canadian Atomic energy.. anyways very high technology & quality. the company makes millions.
I was hired as a co-op student while in college and i was only to work for 8 months - at the end of my term they asked me to stay to work weekends... stayed working while going thru college/uni. finished a few years ago and got my Mechanical Engineering deg. then i was "let go" - a few days later i get a call and they moved me into another department and gave me a project management job - with the promis of a salary increase - nothing until 1-1/2 years later. a %5 increase on what i was making as a student. that is B.S!!!
I flip out on my manager & VP. they review and decide what my salary should be. they approve and im happy, but i will get % increments over the next 2 years! at first i was pissed - they hire people "off the boat" and pay them high from the start WTF!!!!
at this point im inches close to going postal - but instead i decide to go all out and work my ass off. 8 months go by and nothing.. sure enough they forget to make the increase and i loose it (planned to buy a condo) so my attitude pulls a 180 - i start telling off clients, bosses, i show up late & leave early, spend most of the day playng solitaire etc...(this rarely works) so they give me another % increase. but im still apprx -%15 of what i should be making (im not posting my salary)
i've been out looking for other jobs, and ive gotten a lot of offers. but the main things that i like about my current job is that:
#1 i dont have a boss and i can do what ever i want (job related)
#2 every day is a new project - im always working on something new
#3 the experience i learn on the job is unbeliveable
#4 i get to play with technology that is not available to the public for years. i.e prototype cars from GM, Ford, Honda, MG, Panoz etc.. (some cars that will never be available in north america)
Worst thing of all, there are a lot P.eng's that i work with... most of them are useless and they make over $50K
Im suppose to get another increase in June - if not, im gone!!
i think its time for me to leave anyways |

yeah seriously...but whatever, we do ty jobs to get through school; after we grab that degree - we're set.
oh, the weekend will ease the stress ^_^ |
