Regarding Mac laptops like the G4, I wonder if most producers buy theres or how those are customized for live performances. |
they order them customized I'm sure. I built mine myself just cause thats a fun hobby I learned early on. I'm actually gonna build a couple systems for my brother and various other people I know. |

Right on, I'm sure I'll get around to learning that but even after the system was built, just getting the MIDI setup to where everything would play nice was a few weeks worth of headaches |

first of all.....Pentium 4 by choice what the ? It's not a question of having no problems, it's a question of Athlon 64/X2/Whatever chips being WAY faster for hundreds of dollars cheaper.
Asus is good for motherboards for the average user. The power user/overclocker, however, will want a board made by DFI. They have the best layout, voltage control, and BIOS of any manufacturer on the market.
DDR2 RAM isn't supported on Socket 939/940 (Athlon) motherboards, only on Intel-based boards, so I guarantee that you're running something else. Quite possibly DDR500/DDR550/DDR600 speed RAM, but not DDR2 (DDR2 being a different RAM standard, and the others being an indication of operating frequency).
Nice setup though Matthias, just a little bit better than mine. One note: for your money, you're better off with a single card than with SLI no matter what. A single 7800GTX would be a negligible performance downgrade compared to your dual 7800GT's, and when it's time to upgrade you'll have spent A LOT less money overall. Basically, for the cost of your SLI setup I could buy a brand new card (one step down from top-of-the-line) every year, my single card would be faster than your dual cards within a single generation, and I'll spend less money. |

4 months too late with that advice..but good to know. :P
When I upgrade I probably will not be spending too much on the video card as that was more for gaming at the time of purchase, then it was audio production. I got a good discount on the cards from Ebay rather than buying them at standard retail..so I didn't lose too much money. |

well what I spent on the pentium chip (which supports all the new 64 bit apps coming out) wasn't that much so I feel like I got a good deal, and the asus board I got was exactly what I needed given my configuration and what I wanted to spend not to mention the added bonus of being able to have up to 8 gigs of ram. So, it works for me :D

How would you compare it to say a triton or a motif? |
