Need a help with bassline..

Hi, can someone please help me with creating the similar bassline?
it sounds like a side-chain compressor on it, but i can't make anything similar... is it KxxBxKxxBx? or just one note, like bbbBbbbBb with side-chain comressor?
So here are the samples:

Sample 1
Sample 2

Thank You!

Yes, sounds like a sidechained offbeat bass.

I just played around a little and I think I came quite close.

What I did: I arranged kick and bass like this: KBBB ... a long bass note starting 1/16 after the kick. Then I adjusted the attack and decay time of the bass so that it sounds like its in the offbeat of the kick. The trick is the "attack" setting of the bassline. After that I added some sidechaning where I adjusted the attack and release time too, to get some additional pumping character. The bass has been made with V-Station, by the way.

Here is my second try, I tried to improve the sound a little with the modulation envelope.

I am still trying to get it somewhat punchier and more pumping...

Thank you very much! you saved me!! I've made almost the same bassline! Thanks once again!

Actually, the first one sounds like super sidechain compression on a long bass note to me, controlled by the kick; when the kick hits, the long note is completely silent. The second one is similar, except the bass rhythm seems to be:
:|b==b|b=b-|b==b|b=b-|:
Where = means the note is held. The compression on the second one is also not as apparent as on the first.

Here's a sample using this method with Floops. Tweakbench pressure on bass with one of BrenF's kicks.

I have two measures showing what the bassline sounds like without the kick, then four with the kick.

My suggestion: know how to do this, but don't overdo it. Particularly in that first sample, it sounds cheesy and stupid.

good advice...think you could post the flp as well?
thoughtlessjex
Sure, I can do an flp. I didn't save the last one, but this thing is pretty simple to throw together. Just a note, you'll need Tweakbench Pressure. (It's free, and a good synth besides, so there's no reason not to.)

Kinda barebones, but you get the idea.

Hi thoughtless Jex,

Thsi might sound dumb and I might get flamed, but I've been looking at your FLP file and can't work out where the automation that makes the fader go up and down is stored. I know the peak controller causes it, but I have saved your preset in fruity and loaded it into my current project and the fader just goes up and down straight it doesn't make those extra couple of dips in between, if you get what I mean.

Cheers.

I'm having trouble figuring out what you mean. In the one I have, there's no dipping or anything. Just whatever is controlled by the kick drum.

hmmmm....could you post the flp again...but using the standard built in samples? that might help

thanks bro

I got it to work and everything so i started expirementing.

Say i want to take a hat. But turn down its volume all the way, but it still can send info to the peak controller, and i wont hear the hat.

Like i can have a simple saw, and the muted hat is sending info to the controller to make the saw sound like its gating.

Possible? Or did i just make a fool of my self and sounded like a retard because i suck at english and didnt explain it right :eyes:
