um..... it depends what you mean by hiss. when i turn them on and there is no music playing, i can hear a very slight hiss - enough that i can tell the speaker is on. however, this 'hiss' is in no way loud enough to affect me in anyway.
i purchased mine from guitar center..... when i was going in i was actually expecting to walk out with the rokit 6s (because of the price). however, like i said before, after i A-Bed the rokit6 and the V6s there was just no comparison - the mids on the V6s absolutely blew the rokits away and for me was worth the extra $. I will add that the rokits had a slightly deeper bass response. a lot of people here have the rokit5s but i personally would have checked out the V4s. they are about half the size but pack a lot of ooomph.
its been said before but you definitely need to go in and listen for yourself.... i heard the rokit8s but the bass was too heavy for what i am looking for. they're supposed to be near-fields and right now they are placed about 3 feet from my ears and i have not even come close to cranking mine to the max yet. i did crank them up at GC and they get LOUD.
let me know if there is anything else i can help you with...

| For monitors, I use M-Audio BX5s. To my ears, they sounded much better than the KRK Rokit RP5s. I also checked out the Alesis M1 MK2s, which IMO didn't sound as good as the other two. So, the M-Audios won. They were $300. |

| I have a pair of Pioneers. They were $100 but were on sale at Circuit City for half off. For a home system they work perfectly. :) |

I have the KRK Rockit 8s.
I originally purchased the Alesis M1s and I returned them.
I love my Rockits. And I only paid $320 for the pair which was a STEAL from guitar center. |

I have some huge Tanoy speakers from like 1980 in heavy wood cases, painted black. They're old put they pack a punch and have a great warm, deep sound. They have their own subs too.
Edit: heres a pic...its on top of the big black file cabinet. The other one is under the desk on the right.

Yeah? I was looking on google, since I know nothing about them...and they seem to be like antiques.
They pump out those dirty electro basslines quite well :wtf: |
