New username, same cluelessness that led to everyone laughing at you in the first place.

I Like many 'trance' dj's & Producers, just because I don't like the watered down McTrance sounds that armin happens to play in his radio show, doesn't mean that they're in anyway good. The matter is this. Line up the launch of his label with the tracklists on his radio shows & you'll see how much narrower he is. Like A&B on their TATW show & any dj, even pete tong, digweed etc all do it, they stick to the stuff on their labels more. This means that they're then limiting thsmelves in what they can play, making the overall quality lower.

Back in 2002, yes, many of us thought Armin was the future. Why? Because he had variety and didn't just throw down sets that sounded the same all of the time. The simple fact that you can ID 99% of the tracks in every one of his sets goes to show that he's looking for the first level of music, which appeals to the masses, over america, and worldwide, in countries yet to go through the trance phase how Europe has. The problem is that now he's treating everyone with the same brush, that we're all into those watered down sounds, which may cut it in some obscure place that hasn't seen it all before, but doesn't in the UK, Holland or Germany in ways it used to.

To make a point, the start of this set

2001-11-17 Armin van Buuren Live at Club Passion in Coalville (ID&T Radio 2001-12-14) (UK)

01 Sasha - Xpander (Hybrid Mix)
02 Carissa Mondavi - Solid Ground (Markus Schulz Mix)
03 Sleepfreaks - P.H.B. (Directors Cut)
04 Mike Vandenberg - Spooky
05 Halogen - Charged
06 Brother Brown - Star Catching Girl (Sander Kleinenberg Mix)
07 Paul Gaarn - Inhale
08 Oliver Klein - Timeloop Remixes (Lazlo Panaflex Remix)
-break-
09 ID - ID065
10 IIO - Rapture (Armin van Buuren Remix)
11 Trancesetters - The Saga
12 Bodyshock - Rain In The City

he totally builds it perfectly, he doesn't just jump straight into the anthems or wannabe anthems. This is why we thought he could go far, we thought he'd continue to be a DJ who could surprise, who was unpredictable to an extent, and that doesn't happen now.

Anyway back to your personal jibe at me. I love trance, there is life beyond the simple & easy to find sounds. John 00 Fleming is a perfect example of a DJ who has moved with the times to incorporate new sounds into his sets. Those affiliated with his label are good examples too, Oliver Prime, The digital blonde, Christopher Lawrence, Oliver Lieb, Incolumis, Miika Kuisma, Beetseekers & so on. Add to this the good progressive artists that are about now, Flowjob, Human Blue, SBK, Chakra, d-nox & beckers, son kite, Vibrasphere, Flash Brothers, Ticon, Antix & 12 Moons, and well, i've just shown there is variety in trance if you bother to look, without even mentioning goa/psychedelic in detail for the good harder sounds like Marcel Woods for example.

So, I put this one back to you, if you cannot see past what is right infront of your eyes, and dig deeper, then you have no place on these boards ;)

SO true. :)

if u dont like what he plays then u shouldnt be anywhere near these boards

seriously think about it...he plays every tune that is good plus some bunk ones get a grip buddy

This kind of stuff worries me greatly and is why I don't really like Armin anymore. He's convinced a lot of people that mcprog is trance and that anything else is not good trance... in reality it couldnt' be further from the truth.

All I have to say is that you people who solely rely on ASOT as your way of hearing the latest trance tunes are missing a lot of great stuff all of the time.

Interesting. So you pretty much blame the dj for having people think the way they do? Why don't you just blame the people for thinking with closed minds. The dj can play whatever he/she wants to. I would only assume that if you had your own radio show that you would play the music that you liked. So I suppose if the majority of listeners thought that only the stuff you played was good then I could say you suck and have people blind folded? You aren't making any sense other then the fact that it seems like you are just either jealous of these famous dj's or angry about something you just don't understand.

I take if from your sig that you are a die hard Armin enthusiast which is fine. I have nothing against that. I was like you less than a year ago. What I have a problem with is people allowing one person (Armin and ASOT) to decide what new trance tunes are worth listening to and which ones aren't. That's a bad situation for a genre of music to be in when that power is largely bestowed upon one person.

The reason I have a dislike for Armin is this: Fair enough, he moved on with his musical tastes to a more proggier direction. Fine. But it's almost like he went out of his way to kill off the old sound. He said in multiple interviews that the "riff sound" of trance is dead... kind of ironic considering his own trance productions still follow this sound (shivers, serenity). I resent him saying that uplifting trance is dead. I still listen to it, and plenty of othe djs still play it so why would he try to pretend it's dead. That was an thing to say especially since he built his fame with that sound.

Anyways, Ishkur was right. DJ worhsip is out of control in this music. The real credit goes to the producers who actually make the tunes. I can't remember the last time Armin made a great production.. sorry.

Well those who use Armins shows to get their music probably also don't have as much time as others to go searching deep into the genre to find more then what is simply handed to them. What Armin is doing isn't wrong. He is giving the oppurtunity for those to use his show to listen to some new tunes and check out what's "hot" right now in his eyes. He has every right to play what he likes and think is good trance since it is his show.

Now personally, I like his live shows and some of his ASOT. A lot of people on this forum have a very incorrect view on me and Armin and thinking that I hold him above any other dj out there. I simply love his live shows and simply have the most fun there then any other live dj event I have either been to or think I will go to. I dont see it impossible that there isnt another dj out there who I'd hold higher in that respect. Digweed came close but unfortunitely I had to leave early so didnt get the to hang around for what could have been an even more incredible night.

Back to my point. It is simple. You cant blame the djs for the way people think. If someone wants to close their eyes and say EVERYTHING Armin plays is the only real trance and is the only good stuff then let them say that. Its not hard to look the other way from an idiotic statement like that. A dj is going to play what they want and whether they make #1 or #1000 it shouldn't matter to anyone. You choose who you like and support who you want.

You didn't read what I said and just blabbed about how great Armin is.

Oh and you can have the last word on this one. I'm not going to engage in an endless post after post argument with you

I read what you said. And agree somewhat but I just think you and others take what other people on this forum say too personaly and worry a bit too much about it. I didn't blab about how great Armin was. You have to read buddy. And understand... that helps too.
