whoooooooooooooah, so many releases.
Never heard of him though. I take it that means he hasnt done anything good? I noticed he did a lot of stuff years ago.
Has anybody heard his newer albums? |

Steve Roach is, in my opinion, the best ambient producer ever.
Even better than Eno.
The way he captures environments through sound is just flawless. |

Steve Roach - Space And Time: An Introduction To The Soundworlds Of Steve Roach
If you havn't heard much of his stuff, that release will pretty much give you a solid idea as to what a good lot of his works are about.
However, I find alot of his albums to be pretty conceptual. From the cover art, the album names, track titles - down to the tracks themselves and the soundscapes he creates. As I said before, it ranges from the most Earthy and indiginous, to the edges of the universe, where distant objects and worlds are explored.
I would recommend listenings with headphones. IMO, some of his work is just too intense and engrossing to just use as backround music.. |
I love the fact that this one is from 03. i'll definitely check it out :):):)
thanks man ;)
P.S.
And yeah, I never realised how much better it is, listening to stuff through headphones until a week ago. I brought a sample in to work of a Roygbiv remix that I am working on and listened to it throught headphones and thought 'f*** yeah, this sounds cool!'.
Why is that.... is it because the sound is closer to your ears so your anvil can pick up more sound or what?
Anyway, what are the best headphones to get? I heard Senheiser are pretty good. keep in mind that I dont want the chunky ones for listening to regular music. I only want chunky ones for making music. I want some cool looking ones for listening to music |

| out of all the tunes you have from Steve has he made any that are sort of chillout style. Ambient is good but at the moment I am after beautiful beatless melodic stuff. (with strings too) |

I didn't quite understand your request - beatless melodic stuff, but not ambient?
I'm not sure he's made anything particularly melodic as such, but if you haven't got Brian Eno's "Apollo" album, that'd be a good start. His track 'An Ending (Ascent)' is perhaps THE most famous "melodic" ambient track ever, and has been butchered multiple times by trance artists. |

I still havent heard that but Leama and Moor's remix which I have heard, I think is fantastic.
But anyway what about the headphone question, hmm? :p |

As much as you know about everything you make silly threads of when you would find the needed info within seconds of investigation. :stongue: :haha: :stongue: :haha:
First you need to know whether you want open or closed designed headphones.. open don't filter the surrounding noise and people around you are able to hear what you're listening while closed do filter the noise up to a certain extent depending on the brand and model and people around you have no idea what evil sounds are you listening right now. Open are recommended for home use or when the interfering noise isn't that big deal.. closed ones are recommended for studio/producing and DJing but they work for home listening too when you want to close yourself out from the evil world.
For open design headphones i might recommend perhaps something like Grado SR60 and for closed ones Sennheiser HD 280 Pro but in the end it's a personal opinion what one prefers.. one's fav might be other's worst nightmare. |
