Not a DJ

Get this. I got this phone call last night. Some person tells me they want a DJ. Alright sounds interesting. Next they tell me they want me to play some R&B type stuff first before the after party. Okay, yellow lights start flashing. So I let them know I play mostly trance, house and progressive stuff. Already this sounds like a bad idea. So they let me know they don't want that they want reggae and hip hop, and what kind of DJ do I think I am if I don't have any variety. On and on. Alright so I can't help you. Don't tell what kind of "DJ" I need to be. Or that I need to listen to top 40 radio :o , or whatever else.

Don't know the conversation never got that far.

my neigbhors moved in 2 weeks ago. This weekend they saw my building my DJ table, they asked me if DJ. I told them yes.

them: "I wish i met you 1 month ago!"
me: "why?"
them: "We are getting married in 3 months"

I guess everybody who is a DJ MUST play the weekly top 40.

Get this.

Would you rather
-Dress up
-Shave
-Get out there
-Go to the party
-Play rhythmically interesting funky hip hop & reggae
-Get a bunch of girls exited with your programing skills
-Meet & network & score drugs with a bunch of people that could get you gigs
-Get drunk on cheap vodka
-Have a blast
-& wake up hangover next to somebody who's name you can't recall

Or would you

Sit home
-Watch tv
-Reconfigure your dj set-up.
- Move furniture around.
-Clean your records
-Spin a bunch of ''underground'' ''progressive'' tunes that you heard on the
Armin Van Buuren ''underground'' radio show and downloaded using p2p.
-Jump up and down pretending you are a famous dj playing @ some festival while playing the cheesiest sounding trance anthem of the 90's.
- Flip through a bpm magazine from 2003
-Masturbate.
- Waste time on the internet.
-Make a half finished fruity loop tune.
-sleep

Jeez that's a tough one..
What would I do ?
Marc Summers
I got an offer from a club in NYC. They wanted me to spin hip-hop and R&B. I told them, "Sorry, I'm not a DJ, I'm an ametuer producer". And they kept trying to get me to accept their offer, which wasn't bad by the way.

Too bad I'm not a DJ :(
