"I had no idea and found out this fact by an accident. Once I, as always, was working in my studio in Siberian village Cheremshanka. Suddenly, screaming, my neighbor's cat Sam bursted in my studio, pursued by Barsik - my cat. They started gym session right in the studio - I just placed the microphone nearby (at the moment, I was recording a track in Cubase). Barsic was singing the lead solo part and Sam - the lower subpart, creating a colorful baritone. Session concluded with strong culmination (you can hear it in the recording), and as a result, this ethno-group rolled out as a mixed furrball back onto the street. I listened to the recording right away and was amazed at the wealth of extracted material. The representatives of very rare and unexplored variety of authentic folk singing visited my studio and offered free material (heard in the track)! For the collector of ethnic music, who often track to remote parts of Russia will understand the fortune I was presented with... :)
I just had to arrange the track, add instruments and create the beat, usually used in this kind of ethnic track sound and adapt this folk sample to the ear of western listener with the use of modern sound microsurgery.
Two years ago Barsic passed away, becoming famous only posthumously - european label Jaro created his song as the title track on compilation "Russian Soul""
