I'm a Reason user, I tried experimenting with the sound, but it didn't turn out as I expected. Any tips?

You heard The orange theme? The start got of the song got the gate. (I'm talking about the original, not the remix)

Never heard of the song but you can use CamelSpace. Its a pretty nice Vst.

^ Wait nvm your a reason user my bad :D

I might pick up reason soon. Though i dont like the idea of having any Vst's :p

Hmmm. There are some subtle "ah" chopping in the Man With No Name mix of Cygnus X's - A Clockwork Orange Theme

how-to:

Get a good "AH" vocal sound.

Then throw the "Chopper" on it.

In Cubase/Nuendo anyway.

Play from there.

in Reason:

You can automate amplitute changes using the Matrix sequencer. I would fiddle with it. But it involves flipping to the routing side of Reason and patching a cable from the Curve CV to like AMP CV in on your vocal sample player.

Make sure the matrix is in "curve" edit mode. And then play with it from there.

I know how to cut it and stuff like that. The problem is to find the right "Ah" sound.

Here's a Combinator patch of a pad that I used in one of my tracks.
It has that "ahh" sound. Also has built in trance gate and an automatic panner. It sounds best with really big chords. (The chord i used in my track is: A2, A3, C4, E4, B4, F5, A5)

Don't forget to press the "Run Pattern Devices" button on the combi, or it won't work.

I remember a "aah" pad sample comes with fruity loops.. check out in its patches if it can be of any use ! :)

funkysouls: Will do.

Eldritch: The patch is good and all, but it's not exactly the sound I'm looking for. :)
Eldritch
Well, how about this then?

What I think u need to do is get an ahhhh sound which loops forever and then either gate it using the redrum as a gate effect. OR try sidechaining the sample with the bass using the MCLASS compressor OR even a combination of both.
If u need help with these techniques i can show u links to tutorials.
Obviously u need to find the right sample for the sound to work.

EDIT

The orange theme (original) is one of the best trance tunes ever. It is the track that made me change from a gabba fan to a trance fan. Thank god.

The song isn't THAT good, it's abit cheezy, but I like the melody and the composing.

Eldritch: I got the right sound now, not exactly what you posted but I edited it. I'm not posting a link to it until you tell me it's ok.
