Yes, when will people finally learn that expectation leads to disappointment. |

I'll have to disagree with you there. The one time I went (for PvD, of couse) I was blown away by the dancefloor and the layout. I don't need the high ceiling of Crobar... Roxy is much more intimate and, in my opinion, a much better venue. I'm just hoping that someday they'll re-open it as a EDM venue to rival Crobar and Pacha's domination of the NYC club scene.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to second that one. I really don't think it's fair for the #1 DJ in the world to play for anything but an 18+ crowd... dance music is not about excluding people, it's a music that exemplifies a love of enjoyment and the party atmosphere. This simply cannot be done when a good proportion of the population is forceably excluded. I'll have to say guys, just put up with the Guidos and FOBs, the party spirit is worth it.
That said, I'm going to be at Avalon chillin' either center floor or in the booth (probably center floor); there's going to be some insane psy-trance on saturday night --- be sure to arrive early to see Eyal Hen spin... he's amazing! I hope to see you there, PvDObsession; I'll be meeting up with some TAs at Ferry on Friday night as well (check the Ferry w/ the TOTAs thread, I put some pictures up so you guys will recognize me). |

What does anything you said have to do with any of the critiques of the event that I had? Also, I don't like the dancefloor, it's too wide and there should be more than 1 bar and they need better bathrooms for the girls. It really sucked waiting for my girlfriend every time she had to go.
It would be a great venue, if they'd address some of the issues that I mentioned. |

I totally agree with the bathrooms for Roxy, but there are 2 bars one on each end and Roxy is one of the older venues and there for was not built with the same ideas in mind as Crobar....I mean come on its Rollerskating Rink first and foremost and for that is works fine. I like Roxy better then Crobar myself.
Just my .02 |

Oops, my bad, I forgot about the other one even though I used it. The drink line for the bar near the bathroom was really bad, though. |

| Well, sometimes the grime can make the party more fun. Yeah, Roxy was hot as all hell on the 11th for PvD, but after I got over the initial unpleasantness, it almost enhanced the atmosphere in an almost poetic way (that's just my opinion though). Also, whereas I do agree that much of the drama does indeed come from the young crowd, I do think that it really isn't the correct attitude with respect to the spirit of Dance music. And yes, I hate the Guido vs. FOB fights as much as all of you do. |

oh man there was NOTHING like the ROXY during 2002-2004 -- whoever didnt go to the events during that time REALLY missed out (thats when I met most of my friends and NYTAs also) well of course it was a poor substitute for Twilo, obvious...but i can only speak of my own experiences...oh man some of the best times and vibe was there...there was NEVER a problem...i dont drink so i could care less bout the bars but there was def enough places to chill if you felt like it. since i like to DANCE at parties the ample room (even at PVD parties, esp after 4am) was awesome...i cant stand the wall-to-wall crowds, it SUCKS!!!~
lol it used to be AWESOME to wander around Roxy n run into all my friends and krew, and meet new ones hehe :toothless
Besides his Roxy show, the last show I loved from PVD was probably April 15th at Crobar...even Summerstage 2005 was lackluster IMO...Roxy was great but too hot. If PVD spun a CLASSICS night I would def be down tho. But every dj seems to be leaning toward tech-trance now in most of their sets, esp. when they spin in NYC, and truthfully im getting bored of the sound -- hmm maybe i AM getting bored of trance. but i still <3 the classics, if not overplayed, where even the most simplest melodies were spun and unfolded like MAGIC, i think thats why I <3 PVD to begin with (Out There and Back is one of my MOST FAVORITE ALBUMS and Another Way and Face to Face will forever be my ANTHEMS. lol) |

Yeah, I'm with you on that one. I've got to say, the first time I hit the New York club scene I was completely shocked by how hard everything was. I mean, if I want hard, I'll stick to house shows... but when I go to see a trance DJ, I want that dreamy, fast-paced, both sweet and epic sound. So many DJs that normally play their hits in classic styles decide to cater to the NYC audience (the house heads) and play much harder stuff. I mean, it's a lot of fun, but sometimes you get tired of every dreamy breakbeat getting ruined by some out-of-place hard beat. |

Yea, that was a hellish night. I left early because of the heat. |
