Best settings for wav file recordings in Sound Forge?

The last time I played with Sound Forge was around 2002 so I have completely forgotten how I used to record stuff to my pc. What settings should I use for sample rate and bit depth to get the best quality I can get for a mix/rip?

It depends.

I don't use Sound Forge, I use Wave Lab. However, the
concept is the same.

For MP3, I record the .wav file @ 48000 Khz, 16 bit.

For a CDR, I record the .wav file @ 44000 Khz, 16 bit.

If I'm keeping it in my computer, I record the .wav file
@ 96000 Khz, 24 bit. :D
