V Station keeps crashing FL Studio

I've been fiddling with the demo for a few weeks with no problems. I purchased the full version from Digital Village, installed it and as a result FL Studio keeps crashing. Ain't life a b****. You keep everything legit for a more stable system and this nonsense happens.

Any suggestions?

What error do you get when it crashes?

Same thing happens to me... 3.4 GHz hyperthreading, gig of ram, tons of disk space, and nice fast mobo and buses. Really nice laptop, but it crashes V-Station and Bass-Station, while my older PCs seem to have no problems at all. Weird.

Two things I always do now before adding a copy of V-Station: SAVE MY PROJECT. SAVE A NEW VERSION OF MY PROJECT TO BE SAFE.

Solutions I've found:

1. Keep opening the flp file or trying to add the instrument.. works usually by the 4th or 5th try.
2. Upgrade to the newest version; i noticed that the older version i had tended to really cause crashing more, about 70% more often actually.
3. Soundcard=?

Whether you pirated it or not you'll get the same error, so it's irrelevant... sorry that you wasted your money, but maybe you can get a refund or some tech feedback from the company at the least.

Cheers.

Have you tried turning off hyperthreading if you have an intel?
It gives a lot of problems for producing, you can turn it off in the bios (hit del while booting)

Okay I can do this if it'll help. Are there any drawbacks?

Nah, I don't want a refund. I'd still much rather be using a legit app than one that's been cracked by lord knows who. I may contact Novation and see what they say.

It might be a problem with the hyperthreading because most people I know seem to have no problems with their versions of it and they have AMD processors.

I turned off hyperthreading and *touch wood* there hasn't been a crash since - I've tried various different things to check and nothing. Cheers guys, looks like this has solved the problem :)

Dude.. hyperthreading is ESSENTIAL. You gotta have that on, always. It basically uses emulation to turn your single CPU into a dual, allowing two simultaneous operations to be performed. I'd rather have that and deal with opening v-station 4 times than have v-station load immediately with my processor loosing half its workpower.

Sounds like I am. I spoke with Novation on the phone today, the guy hadn't even heard of the problem apparently, although I assured him I had found others with the same issue. I posted a comment on the FL forum added on to a topic someone had already started - someone with exactly the same problem. No solution.

This problem obviously doesn't stop me making music, but the irritating thing is I shouldn't have it at all. Not when it's someone else's issue to resolve. The guy on the FL forum was saying he was enduring it through v.1.2 of V Station as well.

Why the f*** do we bother eh?
