About a month ago while I was putting a usb flash device into the front port of my computer, a static shock jumped from my hand into the usb port. The computer shutdown and acted strange, so I reflashed the bios and that seemed to fix the problem until recently. Now when I try to open or uninstall a program the computer will freeze for a few seconds then shutdown. I reinstalled the system but its still doing this shutdown thing.
I'm pretty sure the static shock must have damaged something on the motherboard. I built the system myself and its less than a year old. Do you think its the motherboard? Should I tell them what happened or should i play dumb because it would void the warranty? |

It does seem like something shorted out on the board.
Since it's under warranty, you should be ok...just play stupid like you suggested. |
