Wrong... and why is it that people who are not into the whole GDJB/ASOT stuff and express their opinion about it get automatically labeled as elitists or haters by people like you? you've completely missed my point... show me where i have ever bagged out an artist just because i don't like them...
there's a big difference between voicing a critical opinion on someones music and completely bagging them out for it (Purple's first post called Schulz a sucktard...), and trying to globally label it as McProg... that's why they're getting the elitist tag... |

To the OP:
Yah that PVD set was mad weak and it was recorded months before it was actually played. Sometimes his guests are spot on and other times they are awful. I disagree with you on the whole #1 DJ thing though, he just doesnt have the drive and determination that I see in other DJs to become that popular. Even though I enjoy his sets his sound isn't unique enough for people to be like, "that is Markus." Because of that, I think there is some truth to the statement that he is a follower and not a trendsetter. In fact, there are not many popular DJs that I would consider trendsetters anymore. |

Oh, so I'm a wanker now huh? Nice, since that's the exact arrogant attitude I'm talking about, and no, I don't think I missed the point. In the post I quoted from you, you make it out to seem like Sasha and Digweed are compared to Markus and the fans of S&D are elitists as well, at least that's how your above statements came across to me, even though you didn't directly say that. You just make it seem like everyone who criticizes the Markus/Armin camp is now a hater, which is an all too common theme among people who are head-over-heels for these two dj's, and that I take issue with because it is completely ignorant.
I've used the term McProg in some of my posts and I fully stand by my use of the wording, so does that make me an elitist too? I just don't understand, especially coming from people like you who are into the whole GDJB/ASOT sound, why everyone who voices a negative opinion on this style, regardless of how harsh/not harsh or how justified/not justified, gets the automatic "elitist" label? It is simply becoming quite redundant and old at this point, all of this "hater this, hater that" mantra. |

I find GDJB boring as living ....and can never listen to it for more than 10 minutes...
But I saw him live a couple of weeks ago and I must say he tore the place apart, played lots of good hard trance tracks, which I wasn't expecting at all.
Still, he was just good not great, I don't find his style very interesting at all. |

Ah... No you missinterpreted me completely... I'm not ignorant enough to say (nor am I saying) that Schulz is better than Sasha and Digweed... But as I said before, all I'm saying that anyone who says Markus Schulz or Armin van Buuren, or anyone else is a bag or writes them off completely just because they personally don't dig it is in my opinion, ignorant, arrogant and very self centred...
I expressed this before, and I'll say it again... and elaborate... I know not everyone likes GDJB, and not everyone has to... and by all means say you don't like it and if you want what's wrong with it... but at the same time, you have to respect that others do like it, and you are going to upset people by saying the host is a complete bag just because you personally don't dig his sound

No not at all!!! by all means justify why it deserves the McProg term... but I've not read a respone from a single peron on any forum, justifying why they hate it or why it deserves the tag... most just gets all defensive and abusive and write anyone who is into it (and the artists they listen to) off as a complete moron...
I'm willing to read/listen to anyone, but when someone continue answers why it's complete with "because it's " or "because I don't like it" that's when I develop the opinion of "elitist" |
