I have been using Reason 3 rewired to an old copy of Cubase for a while but I am wanting to buy a new sequencer and was thinking of buying Cubase SL3. Turnkey sell the system 4 package which has SL3 plus a 4 in 2 out audio interface for 250.
But,,,,,,
Just recently I've been looking at reviews and articles about Cakewalk's Sonar 5 (producer edition) and I have to admit, it looks very nice, especially the synth's and effect's that come with it. I can buy it for 340.
So which package would you go for, SL3 or Sonar 5????? |

Hey Rich, When I saw your name pop up just now, I thought it must be the same rich from M.I.K.E.s forum. (cheers for answering my queery the other day)
About the question. I know what you mean. I don't know one single person that uses Sonar, so I'd never considered buying it, but whilst every single person I know uses cubase (with the exception of the fortunate few who have a mac with logic) it just seems from what I've seen recently that the synth and effects that are bundled with Sonar are a bit more impressive looking than the ones in Cubase (although that might just be the way the products being marketed) It would be good to hear from someone who actually uses Sonar.
Anyway Cheers,

I'm a Sonar 5(PE) whore... been using sonar since 2.0 and i love it. SP5 came with some awesome bundles and some even better fx that are extremely expensive and almost match waves imo.
i've used cubase and its phenominal, i highly recommend it to people. sonar 5 has an extremely similar layout and almost everything on their is identical.
sonar 5 is a bit cpu heavy, but i don't know exactly what cubase 3 was on the cpu.
i recommend sonar 5 for the cakewalk forums which are superb... but ultimatly we can compare specs all day or you can look on the websites, they are near identical.
