Nope. I was at Timo Maas. And, judging by Ryan's post, I'm glad I didn't attempt to go to Cielo. Waiting on line for 2 hours in 25 degree weather with strong ass winds is not my idea of fun. |

I dunno...Sasha's best sets are those that have structure. Like...they build...the tracks flow together.
If you liked his Crobar set (which sasha fans say had no flow) and didnt like this one, chances are it was probably a good Sasha set.... :p |

dam... i was happy with the 15 mnute wait for FERRY, i cant imagine more than 15 minutes, i woulda died... a couple friends of mine went, said he was really bad (they went to see him at every other Sasha night at Crobar too) and left for Rock Candy afterhours, which they said the DJ there was twice as better and they paid 1/4 and waited 1/24 of what they did at Cielo.... i wasnt there tho, so i wanna hear some more TA reviews! |
LOL, were those the same friends who thought Quivver sucked at Love? |

 Yup. Best night of music I've heard out at a club. So dope from start to end. I'm on ravelizards too, but not with this name. Cause I hate it. I joined as dalek there. :clown: Saw you had a better time at Avalon though. :( Haha! |

butabi its interesting to note that a couple of months ago you were singing sasha's praises in MD for playing "darker" and having seen him only 2 weeks ago, he most certainly is playing a lot darker, dirtier, and more driving. its hard for me to imagine that he changed his sound that much in 2 weeks that you were compelled to leave after only 2 hrs.
mind you im just calling it like i see, obviously i wasnt there, and of course only you can form your own opinion. im just saying. :thepirate |
ha i actually didn't leave after 2 hours cause of the music, it's cause i had some kind of flu on thursday and was still feeling it a bit... i'm sure the 2 hour wait in the cold helped that out.
he def still had the dark style that i was into at crobar, like i said he played a lot of the same tracks, but honestly some of the other tracks he was playing at cielo were downright awful. it wasn't a matter of flow... the music was just un-interesting. he didn't play any tracks at crobar imo.
who knows, maybe the wait in the cold just made me really angry, and my view of the night was slanted just as was those who were stuck in a meathead sandwich that night at crobar, where i walked right in and danced at a nice spacious table in the mez, then had a terrific night. |

I've heard quite a bit of music the past few days, but I wanted to throw out a couple of tracks I remembered.
Tiefschwarz - Warning Siren (Cass and Mangan remix) :eyespop:
Coburn - We Interrupt This Program mixed with another track (Coburn had no vocals, don't remember if the other track did or not)
Also, the track that he opened with is on one of the recent radio mixes (maybe the Sessions one from Christmas that I can't find a tracklist for??), and is very dreamy sounding, like something from Airdrawndagger.
The 2nd or 3rd track was really epic sounding and definitely not what I was expecting on Friday.
Daniela, can't remember which song it was when I called but i think it was either Warning Siren or the track right before or after it that I also knew, but can't remember right now. It was at about 3-3:30, right? That was when he started playing a lot of familiar tracks. If you still have it in your voicemail, let me listen and maybe it'll jog my memory.
This is the problem with listening to sets all the time, I just don't retain nearly as many track names as I do the sounds. I mean, I had to look up Warning Siren after having it note for note in my head all weekend and he plays it all the time.
He may also have played 16 Bit Lolitas - Destiny. I'll try to get Barosoap's confirmation tonight since i'll have to take the set home that I have it in. |

He played from midnight until 4:20 am. Not as long as usual, but the club he played at is really small, so only like 300 people, and they close pretty promptly when the bar shuts down at 4. He usually plays into the morning at Crobar. Cielo's probably got the best sound in NYC, too (except the night I saw Luke Chable and Dave Seaman and a speaker was blown out for all of Chable's opening), so that was a plus.
After listening to 16 Bit Lolitas - Destiny, Barosoap confirms that it was played. Thanks for the videos, she's got a few 10-20 second clips and pics on her camera, but she keeps forgetting to bring the adapter over to my place so we can |

OK, I'm definitely disagreeing with stevebutabi on his evaluation. I guess we just have different ideas of what a good Sasha night is because i remember that he liked the Crobar set which I thought sucked.
As for us, we waited in line from about 9:45 until 11:45-12 to get in at $50 each for Christina and I. It was soooo worth it. I thought his set was really good, and seeing Sasha in such a small venue made even more worthwhile. His first few tracks were really good, and from 3 on, he really banged out, dropping quite a few tracks I knew note for note, but don't know the titles of now or when played. Maybe if I listened through a few recent sets, I'd recognize them. His last track before the encore was Mad 8 - Work This . He closed up at 4:20 with a track that I know, but can't name at the moment.
Willie Graff sounded like a really good DJ from outside. We met a couple of cool people outside and had bonding experience. Also, it was really ed up, but Sasha and I were bathroom buddies. I swear, except for once, every time I went to the bathroom tonight, he was there, even during his set. It was very strange.
Also ran into Steven Neil and Sheila, who we'd met at Howells when fairly trashed. Good to see them in a more sober circumstance on both Christina and I's ends. She thanked him for carrying her out the last time they saw Sasha together.
The most ridiculous part of tonight was asking about bottle service and being told that 4 people needed to buy 4 bottles tonight. Yeah, I didn't want to drink a liter of Grey Goose, nor did I feel like dropping $300+ for each of us. The second most ridiculous was some guy asking Sasha out on the smoking area (right before he went on) if he was going to play Xpander tonight. Sasha just looked at him and said "This isn't really the venue for Xpander." :haha: :haha:
Steve, I assume we talked in line. Which guy were you?? I was the guy in the black leather jacket and jeans with the Taiwanese/Filipino girl in a red jacket. |
i didnt bother to read this whole thing but all i saw was that you waited in line for 2 hours??? werent you freezing your fukking ass off.. holy this is why i hate clubbing in the winter those lines, and sub zero weather just dont mix imo lol.. |
