I've figured it out ....

*puts on cute flame outfit*

I just noticed that, so many producers have gone out of their way to change their sound just so that it would appeal to a particular show. Tilt was such a legendary act in the trance scene, and then they got pulled into the GBDJB thing, and did The World Doesnt Know ...that was crap. Matthew Dekay was doing real cool underground type stuff for a while, before he ever popped up on the ASOT radar, and then all of a sudden you see his style and tunes also being turned in the favor of that radio show. Do you think that they do these productions in mind with the fact that they KNOW and target them to a particular type of listener, and is in a way a marketing act. Think about it, anytime a classic artist comesback with a tune and it gets played by armin or schulz, the style is completely different, and just fits the exact style of that show. I'm beginning to think that its not even the artist changing style, because they are goind in a different direction in preference, but rather just do productions with those shows in mind in the first place. Another guy is Max Graham, classic producer from the past, and all of a sudden he comes out with thet "Gone" tune...and its appaling that he would even produce such a tune....it's so obvious thats the case, that people should stop saying well, the artists latest productions are bad...when they do it on purpose to make buck, cuz thats what sells. My bad, had to vent all that out.... :tongue2

I think that has more to do with the fact that John Graham left and was "replaced" by Andy Moor. If Moor had produced tracks that were equal to his earlier productions then it could've been fine, but he got all pling-plonged out and the Tilt name has suffered because of that in my opinion.

YEa, but don't you think those tracks are just being made JUST for those radio shows, because they know thats the sound they look for and then do the productions based on that. It seems like it because the styles of the oldschoolers that comeback with some tune never sounds quality and is always cookie cutter /bad ...with a hint of MC prog, or some crap cheese vocal like the Max Graham - Gone

I thought that when Yahel made Behind Silence and it was played on ASOT. I remember being totally excited about hearing a new Yahel tune and being drasticly disappointed. Most producers have to go where the money is though and if that is to make something comparable to a popular radio show then they have to do it.

Honestly, I have no idea, but I do think the radio shows have an influence on the productions in some respect, yes. The extent of this I would be interested in knowing, not to mention I'd also like to understand a bit more what some of the intentions and motivations are for making this type of sound, or why producers are suddenly switching their original style to seemingly "accomodate" this new and very amateurish sound. I think that getting increased recognition, quite possibly to different people (the pop music crowd?), or a possible cash-grab are involved as well.

This is one question I really, really wish would have been asked of Andy Moor in the interview that was posted on here not too long ago. I am dying to know what his response to this would be, considering his older work on the Baroque and Method labels are among some of my favorites in the progressive house area and are very well done, while his newer stuff (aka: Halcyon) is, well, terribly wasted potential from a more capable producer as far as I'm concerned.
