Me too! I was kinda hoping Brokeback would win again just so I could hear their theme played one more time :p |
I love that score too, I'm glad the composer won for this.
the whole oscars suck, the only actor who I really think deserved to sin his catergory is phillip seymour hoffman. Reese Witherspoon didn't surprise me, but she probably had the weakedt performance in the group, but I know the Oscars loves to give it to young hollywood starlet types b/c it's supposedly more exciting than to give it to someone like judy dench. |

Very, VERY surprised at some of the winners last night - especially lack of Brokeback Mountain in the acting or best picture categories.
Crash was a movie made deliberately and tailored to winning an award (at least, that's how I felt - kinda like Traffic was). Whereas Brokeback told a story, a truly unique, visual feast of a story in such a graceful way.....I don't think anything could have done better than Ang Lee's movie.
Very disappointed that Hoffman won over Ledger or Phoenix for Best Actor - fackin' disappointing for me. :(
Best lines of the evening (although the Will Ferrell/Steve Carrell bit with the makeup was fackin' hilarious....eyelashes!):
Jon Stewart: "Okay, Martin Scorsese - nominated three times, never won an oscar. 'It's Hard Out There for a Pimp' - Oscar. Just so you know."
David Letterman: "Sorry, I can't make it this year - I have to hang out with Steve Martin's kids so they don't....turn out weird."
Lily Tomlin: "And suddenly your popcorn becomes little kernels of peyote."
Random Woman winning Technical Award acceptance speech: "And I'd like to thank you for seating me next to George Clooney at the Nominees Luncheon." |

Are you kidding me? Hoffman is a terrific actor, completely believable in every role he's ever played. In Capote he took a very difficult, excentric character and played him extremely true to life and accurately. IMO acting a real person who is known to the audience must be the most difficult task in acting because if you miss the mark everyone notices and the film fails as a result (this is probably why the Acadamy seems to love bio-pics).
I believe Stewart's quote was "for those keeping score at home, Martin Scorsese - zero, 36 mafia - one." Brilliant ad-lib! |

I'm surprised (and happy) that CRASH won for Best Picture. I thought it was an excellent movie!! |
+1
It's rare that I've ever seen ANY of the finalists for Best Picture.
Crash was the only one I saw of the finalists this year and I'm glad to know they won!! It was a GREAT movie! |

brokeback mountain should have won more, ie: cinematography. and every time i hear that theme song i want to cry!
glad reese won and not stupid kiera knightley. although would have been ok if felicity won as well. i think phillip seymour hoffman deserved his win even though i haven't seen capote...from the footage i've seen, it looks like an excellent performance. although heath could have won as well imo.
dolly parton kicks ass. i love her. she's so cute!!!!!!
the fashion sucked. boring, black, plain, blah. |

I agree, he's been one of my favorites for a while. He's just tremedoudly talented, and hasn;t received as much acclaim for his work, that's why I was happy to see him finally recognized. I was most satisfied with him win, more than any other win. |
