now I'm not asking how to sidechain my bass to my kick...what I am asking is how to get that sound that you hear in so many tracks that sounds like the everything is pumpimg hard...for insatnce (used very often in many tracks) a saw wave that seems to be sidchained to the kick so it pumps.

I will post a sample l8r.

Anyway...I've tried sidechaining with the db compressor and it just doesn't pump hard enough...maybe my settings are off but I've tried doing a lot of different things. A lot of the tracks I'm talking about seem to have almost every sound sidechained...or maybe its the hats that are sidechained too and make it sound like that.. I'm not sure. nytips would be great.

basically I just want a really heavy pumping sound.

Heavy compression on the master maybe?

For insane pumping sound, it's all about sidechaining though. Read some tutorials.

yes! it's sidechain compression is what your reffering to. it doesnt need to be used all the time but is handy. depends on how you like to make your tracks sound. i like to use it on ducking long note synth sounds and basslines.
